Monochromatic Monday :: Mad for Plaid

Tartan_Plaid_Inspiration

Ahhh, this weekend was pretty perfect… between a few fun Christmas parties, we managed to squeeze in long walks to check out neighborhood decorations, a matinée of The Descendants and ended with a Sunday night curled up in front of the fire with warm bowls of chili & cornbread. This season has got me in ultimate cozy mode, and nothing seems more warm ‘n fuzzy than tartan plaids, preferably layered on top of each other for ultimate affect. Wouldn’t it be fun to decorate for the holidays using plaid as a unifying theme? Cut strips of fabric right from the bolt and use as napkins on an otherwise neutral table, and rely on the king of tartan for classic accessories for wardrobe & home. As Leighton so elegantly demonstrates, plaid is no longer relegated to Christmas morning pajamas…it makes an unexpectedly elegant print for a floor-length ball gown, perfect for the season’s galas. oh.. i loved leighton’s outfit!! and my christmas tree has some plaid on it… I was dreaming of plaid napkins but never find them in red (only in green) so I wrapped a piece of art with a plaid paper instead (so that the dining room had something plaid).. hope to share it this wednesday at my blog.. great inspiration board!

Leighton’s dress is so 80′s! I love it! Reminds me of a an outfit I made in HS… I wore it with my fourteen hole docs, NIN patched leather, and a partially shaved head but very similar vibe on the dress. :-D
