Transformed :: Hanging Herb Garden

diy build your own herb garden indoor hanging easy simple step by step kitchen

Happy Thursday, everyone! Am I (Claire) the only one stunned by December’s arrival? With the holidays quickly approaching, the next few weeks will be devoted to totally prepping my house for the season… especially in the kitchen. One project on my to-do list, which I think would be fabulous to have completed in time for holiday entertaining, is a hanging herb garden. And since temps in Texas will be dropping in the next few weeks, I can’t imagine anything better than having a lush array of greens at arms-length. I’ve gathered some of my favorite herb garden designs and need your help to decide which one to recreate; leave a comment letting me know: which one would you like to see me DIY? Stay tuned for the big reveal in two weeks!

*Update: Click here to see the final product and DIY instructions from Claire!

    I live in the Rocky Mountains and really need an indoor herb garden. I LOVE the first picture with the jars, and that’s something I know I could do myself. They probably could use some pebbles in the bottom for better drainage (which would look cute too). Definitely going on my to do list, thank you!

    What a refreshing solution to have your herbs growing upside down! Love it.

    I’m thinking #1…so many different ways you could present the jars!

    I vote on the first one, but I’d also be interested to see how to do the second one. It would be so fun in my kitchen!

    Looks like a general consensus for the first one! I love it and it doesn’t look too difficult. It would also be so cute to paint the name of the herb on each jar using frosted paint. I’ve been meaning to build a shelf in my kitchen for my indoor herb garden since I don’t have a window sill, but this is so much better! Sooo inspired right now… thank you! I love the third one too. The second one looks scary to me… I’d worry about the effects of gravity!

    Any chance I could get the directions for pic 3? I’d love to do that for my climbing and bushy flowers. Love the ideas and thanks for posting.

    I would LOVE directions for the one using the pallet. This is such a space saver and I have access to unused pallets. PLEASE post the directions. Thank you!!!!

    How do you do that yourself? Where do you get the materials for the first one? or the 3rd one?

    hi , do you mind if I ask you a question ? .. do the herbs need drainage holes for the mason jars ? … and how long can they live in the jars for ? thanks so much, Steph.
