Remember when Camille shared her newly-spruced up business cards last week? Well, since you were all so curious to find out how we gilded the edges of the cards (and since we’re feeling so professional today, anyway), we thought this would be the perfect time to show you the step-by-step. After trial and error with acrylic paint and even a stamp pad, our trusty gold spray paint proved itself superior once again, making the project surprisingly simple. Follow the jump for the full instructional, and be sure to show us your revamped business cards!

- Stack business cards as perfectly as possible, and weigh down with a heavy rock. If you don’t want to compromise the top card, cover with paper.
- Spray all four sides of stack gold and allow to dry for three minutes… that’s it!

Love the business cards and guilding technique

Very creative and unique! I’m sure they’re even prettier in person.
Wow! I thought this was going to be a much more difficult project! I definitely need to try this out. Your cards look so professional and stylish, I can’t believe you did them yourself
Nice work.
PIECE OF CAKE. PEACE OF MIND.
Everything is better with a little gold! Love this, Chanel!! Can’t wait to try it myself.
Gorgeous! The gold just makes them!
LOVE this! I used up all of my old cards and I’m so excited to get some new ones and do this to them.
Ohh I am so glad you posted this and I am SO excited to try this at home!
This is amazing!
This is absolutely genius! I never would have thought of doing that myself!
do you think this would only work on thick card stock? or would regular weight business cards still show the gilded edges? I have these business cards in purple: http://madebygirl.blogspot.com/2010/08/personalized-chevron-calling-cards-new.html
absolutely love this idea and so easy // you are fab!
I can’t wait to do this on my next batch of cards….could have saved a lit of cash!
Interesting idea. Never thought about the edges being a different color from the rest of the card.
Super pretty! Beautiful with minimal effort, thanks for sharing!
Such a great idea! I wanted to add gold to my cards, but was told it’s more expensive. This is a much more economical way of doing it!

I’ve been waiting for this tutorial! I can’t believe it’s SO easy – amazing.
Thanks Serena…we knew y’all would be surprised with how VERY easy this one is. And saves you lots of $$$!
Can’t wait to try this out! My current cards are running low, it’s time to spruce them up!
Love this idea and love your blog
So easy, but so unique! I love this look.
I fell in love with these the moment I saw them and it never occurred to me to just spray them! Thanks so much for sharing, sooo easy and so chic!
I’m impressed that worked so well — I would have expected you’d have to do something more involved!
You think Dept of State will mind if I pretty my business cards like this?! These are beautiful!
Oh my gosh! These are awesome. I tried to do similar with a gold ink pad a few months ago and it didn’t end up looking so hot. Can’t wait to try this over the weekend!

We tried it that way first too, and the lines bled a tiny bit onto the cards. I love how clean it comes out with the spray paint!
I just received new cards in the mail and I think I will try this technique. I can’t believe it is so simple!
These are so beautiful, and so easy!
Great idea! I could even see doing this with other cool colors like neons! Super easy, I may try when my new cards come in. Thanks for sharing, Camille.
These are beautiful! I am going to have to try this on my cards.
Hi Camille! Great idea, love it! Two questions, because I have tried something similar before and failed
#1 how do you prevent the cards from sticking together when dried and #2 how do you prevent the color from bleeding? I tried this, but not with spray paint, and the paper just absorbed the paint so well, it bled half way through the card!
Hi Danielle, so glad you love it! We had the same issues when we tried this with other types of paint. But once we used the spray paint, the cards were easy to separate and the paint didn’t bleed. Make sure you have a heavy enough weight on top of the stack so that it compresses the cards, thus keeping the spray paint from getting anywhere but the edges. Hope this helps – be sure to let us know how it turns out
Lovely, Camille! Gotham + Gold = Super Yummy!
Gorgeous! I need some professional business cards first so I can do this to them!
i’ve been too much of a wimp to try this technique, but i love the way it so much! if you don’t mind me asking, what kind of paper was used? and do you think it would work on a thick cardstock?
Absolutely! I’m not sure the exact weight of my cards, but they’re a very thick stock!
We used heavy business cards. It will totally work on any dense stack of paper, but remember that because the edges on cardstock are thinner, the pop of color won’t be as noticeable or striking. Thanks & good luck!!
So pretty and easy!
Your cards look great! Love how this little detail makes such a big impact. Thanks for sharing your DIY tips.
Um, this is one of the smartest things I’ve seen in a long time. It’s so perfect, so easy, and such a great idea!
I have a marriage coaching business and I love this idea because it can a that special touch to my business image!
Love it!!!!!
What a great idea. And even greater that you shared it with all of us
Thank you.
