Why do girly drinks get such a bad rap? I do my best to order no-frills cocktails at the bar, but every now and then nothing tastes better than berries and sugar and flowers in a glass (and even some the manliest men I know would agree!). Today’s cocktail is something of a cross between a Sonic slushy, your favorite fresh mojito, and of course, bubbly — all the ingredients needed for indulging with girlfriends and keeping cool during these dog days of summer. Keep reading for the recipe, and enjoy!
Berry Rum Smash

Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup berries (I used a combination of strawberries, blackberries & raspberries)
- 3 oz. rum
- juice of 1/2 lemon
- juice of 1/2 lime
- 1 oz. simple syrup
- prosecco
- whole berries and a sprig of mint for garnish
Instructions:
- Muddle berries in a shaker. Add rum, lemon and lime juice, and simple syrup. Fill shaker with ice, cover and shake until the shaker is frosted.
- Strain over crushed ice, top with a splash of prosecco, and garnish with berries and mint.
These look delicious… not to mention the perfect way to use up fresh berries that can be found everywhere this summer. Although I can’t enjoy the alcohol right now (apparently that’s a no-no when pregnant – ha 🙂 I’ll definitely be experimenting with a refreshing non-alcoholic version of this over the weekend!
I don’t care whether girly drinks get a bad rap or not….this looks totally delicious! I am definitely going to make this recipe….looks amazing for drinking on a beautiful sunny day 🙂
