7 Amazing Additions to Your Bathtime Ritual

By Tara Thompson Rasmus
best at home bath ritual and bath soak products

Ah, bath time. Every time I have the luxury of doing the whole soak-and-scrub thing in a tub of bubbles, I have the same reaction: WHY don’t I do this more often?! The concept of self-care is one that’s thrown around a lot these days, and if you’re anything like me, it can be easy to feel like taking care of yourself is just another thing to add to your already-packed schedule. I have to remind myself that it doesn’t take a full-weekend yoga retreat to make a huge difference in my mental and physical well-being. A simple 20-minute soak can be almost as relaxing as a full-body massage—and the great night of sleep that’s sure to follow is just icing on that self-care cake.

So, to encourage you (and myself!) to take advantage of the full-body restorative powers of the humble bubble bath, I rounded up some luxurious and effective bath products that will totally enhance your experience. Click through to check out my picks, and promise me that you’ll take some time for yourself before the madness of the holidays are upon us! (Speaking of: fabulous bath products make some of the best gifts, no?)

The Bathery Dry Brush

Yes, a soak in the bath is a time for relaxation, but it should also be a time to show your skin a little TLC. With drier fall weather arriving, a full-body exfoliation can keep dead skin moving and even help with lymphatic drainage, so try a dry brush to give yourself a good sloughing before you even step foot into the suds.

Seaberry Exfoliating Soap by Fresh

If dry brushing seems a little extreme to you (or potentially harsh for your sensitive skin), you need not fear exfoliation. Try an exfoliating soap bar like this seaberry-infused pick from Fresh for a gentler take on scrubbing.

Pursoma Minerals De Mer Body Soak

If you really want to take your bath seriously, try adding a specialty soak like this stimulating soak from Pursoma, which features green clay and French grey sea salt to detoxify skin and improve circulation—the ultimate antidote to daily stress.

REN Moroccan Rose Otto Bath Oil

Feeling dry? This totally luxe bath oil is designed to be added to your bath water (don’t worry, it won’t leave your tub greasy) to soften and subtly scent your skin while you soak.

Posies & Co. Body Polish

Have you ever seen a more gorgeous body scrub? This handcrafted pick uses sugar and shea butter to exfoliate and moisturize, leaving behind a delicate floral scent.

Shea Butter Foaming Cream Bath by L’Occitane

Ideal for dry, sensitive skin, this cream bath takes away any winter itch factor and leaves your skin hydrated and delicately fragranced.

Tammy Fender Lavender Body Oil

Lotions and creams are well and good, but I think a lavender body oil is the perfect way to seal in moisture and continue that relaxation theme all the way to dreamland. (Bonus if you get a special someone to give you a nice back massage with this stuff before hitting the hay…hint, hint!)
