Best Teeth Whitening Products

By Tara Thompson Rasmus

The new year is a perfect time for fresh starts — and, since my self-pampering routine took a major hit amidst the craziness of December, I’m starting off the year with some beauty resolutions to go alongside my financial/spiritual/self-betterment goals. Besides for the obvious intentions of keeping my eyebrows plucked, my nails chip-free (bare nails are way better than chipped polish, in my opinion), and finally getting around to booking that hair color appointment, I’m resolving this year to take better care of my smile. Like having perfectly groomed brows and healthy skin, a bright smile is a feature that helps one to look our best, regardless of whether or not we have any makeup on (always a win in my book). So, in honor of fresh starts and happy smiles, I rounded up a variety of teeth-whitening products that will (hopefully) turn our chompers dazzling for 2015. Who’s with me?

Glo Science Glo Brilliant Personal Teeth Whitening Device

I’m not going to lie; this teeth-whitening system is a bit of a time commitment, but it’s the closest way that I’ve found to emulate professional whitening services at home. Ideal if you’re preparing for a big event like a wedding for a reunion, this system is pain-free and a total bargain compared with a pro treatment.

Crest 3D White Glamorous White Whitestrips

The original, and possibly best, way to get truly brilliantly white teeth at home, these little strips will never fail you. I used them years ago, and they worked fantastically — and they’ve only gotten more effective and easier to use since then.

Go Smile On The Go Teeth Whitening Pen

If you’re a busy bee like me, chances are that you’re always looking for the biggest bang for your time investment when it comes to beauty treatments. Enter this super-convenient pen: simply brush the serum on twice a day and let it sit for at least 20 minutes before eating, rinsing or drinking for whiter teeth in one week — no trays or strips mean that this option can be used anywhere, anytime.

Supersmile Professional Whitening Gum

Talk about an overachiever: this gum whitens teeth (it even works on caps and veneers), contains baking soda to kill bad-breath causing germs, and works to counteract acidity in the mouth, which can lead to cavities. That’s some multitasking I can get behind.

JASON Powersmile, All-Natural Whitening CoQ10 Tooth Gel

If you prefer natural beauty products (or just have super-sensitive teeth), give this gel by Jason a try. It whitens naturally and gently with bamboo powder, calcium carbonate, and silica.

Rembrandt Deeply White 2 Hour Whitening Kit

If you’re more of an instant-gratification type, a kit like this one by Rembrandt might be your perfect fit. Simply apply the professional-grade gel to the included trays and wear for one two-hour session for noticeably whiter teeth.

Colgate Optic White 2-in-1 Whitening Kit

If you’d rather build whitening into your daily routine, this toothbrush/whitening gel combo is simply brilliant (pun intended). First, brush with the whitening brush/toothpaste combo, rinse, then apply whitening gel with the built-in pen. No rinsing is required, which means that you can slap on the gel and go, you know, tackle all of those other resolutions…
