The Best Products for Luscious Lips

By Tara Thompson Rasmus

Maybe it’s in my head, but I swear that I go through cycles where my lips are just so dry that almost nothing I try will truly eradicate that terrible parched feeling. Whether it’s a long plane ride, a night with one too many drinks, or (ahem) a nice long, dehydrating winter, it seems that sometimes my pucker has just had it. When this happens, I trade my regular Chapstick and lip stain for the big guns — here are some of my latest pretty picks that are whipping my lips into spring shape!

Tarte Maracuja Lip Exfoliant

First things first: when my lips have gotten truly parched, I’ve learned that the only way to get them back into fighting shape is to exfoliate. This chemical-free scrub is a simple mix of oils and sugar — it can be used daily without fear of irritation.

Bliss Pout-O-Matic

For puckers in need of serious exfoliation, this nifty gadget is the way to go. Like a Clarisonic for your lips, it gently but thoroughly removes flakes for baby-soft lips.

Bite Beauty 5 Night Fix for Lips

For smoother lips overnight (literally), give your pout a facial with this set that includes a scrub stick with oil-infused beads and a Madagascar-vanilla scented lip mask.

FIG+YARROW Basil + Cardamon Lip Balm

I religiously apply lip balm before bed, and I’m always looking for a product that provides a bit of aromatherapy as I’m winding down. This all-natural salve has a unique but totally addictive scent — you just have to sniff it for yourself!

Nudist Colorbalm Stick

Now the fun part — color! When my lips have been especially dry, I ditch my favorite stains and lipsticks for tinted balms instead. I still get a hit of brightening color along with lots of moisture (oh, how I love a two-in-one product!).

Pop of Passion Lip Oil Balm

If I’m really wanting a bright lip look but fear the flaking that can come with it, I’ll choose a lipstick with hydrating ingredients, like this genius oil-infused stick.

Estée Lauder Courrèges Estée Lauder Lip Visor

The key to preventing chapped lips? Keep a quality lip balm on you always, reapply as often as you can. The skin on your lips is delicate and needs constant attention — but, with a product as beautiful and effective as this new tinted lip cream from Estée Lauder, the habit can be downright fashionable!
