Getting Dressed With Emma Heming Willis

By Camille Styles
How Emma Willis spends her mornings

I love that our new Getting Dressed With series provides the chance to peek into the lives of some incredibly chic women and answer such burning questions as, “What does a typical morning look like for an international supermodel-turned-blogger who also happens to be married to Bruce Willis?” That, my friends, is what we find out today as we peek inside the Bedford Hills home of the lovely Emma Heming Willis. This busy mama of two spills on her go-to breakfast, signature scent, and getting-ready soundtrack, and wins the award for “most photogenic” while juggling it all.

What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?

I like to wake up about 30 minutes before the girls do, so I can have a moment to myself before tackling what is always sure to be a busy day. I do the basic morning routine, like brushing my teeth, splashing some cold water on my face and maybe even answering a few emails.

Emma started her blog as a way to communicate with other first time moms. Her weekly columns cover new experiences where she shares her tips and asks for others.

How long does it take you to get ready from start to finish?

If I’m getting ready for the school run, it’s usually about 5 minutes. If I have a meeting, 15 minutes. Date nights, 20 minutes.

What do you eat for breakfast?

I usually have some carbs and a protein. Lately, I’ve been into these protein waffles. And I’ll throw in a few chicken sausages.

Do you workout in the morning? If so, what do you do?

I have more energy in the mornings than later in the day. So, working out in the mornings just fits my schedule better anyway. My workout of choice at the moment is spinning.

I never leave the house without _____________.

My iPhone.

If you could only put on one item of makeup, what would it be?

I’m a concealer and blush girl! So hard to decide! I’ll go with blush? Maybe having a brighter cheek will override the dark circles!

Do you stick to the same makeup and hair routine, or do you like to experiment?

I used to enjoy experimenting. But I don’t have the time to get creative now, because god forbid I mess it up and I’d have to start over! I stick to what works, and it’s all pretty basic make-up and hair 101.

Do you have a signature scent?

I don’t love heavy scents. After having my kids, my sense of smell was heightened. I use coconut oil as my body moisturizer– it has such a light and clean smell.

Healthiest morning habit:

Making a protein smoothie with this powder from my nutritionist. It’s packed with vitamins and nutrients and starts my morning on the right track.

Worst morning habit:

Skipping breakfast.

Daily uniform:

Jeans and t-shirt with my Chucks.

What’s your favorite getting-ready soundtrack?

I’m a hardcore hip-hop junkie—and I mean hardcore. Seeing that lyrics in that genre aren’t, well, appropriate with kids around, I’ve shifted to the Biebs. It’s kid-friendly if the kids want to be in on my getting ready action.

What’s your favorite product in your shower?

I made this raw coconut oil scrub when I was pregnant with my first. I’ve been obsessed with it ever since.

One word to describe your mornings:

Hectic.
