One of the perks of living in LA is the multitude of swanky hotels perfect for brunching, lunching and meeting up with friends. You can do a pool day at The Roosevelt or dinner at PaliHotel, but my personal favorite is the Sunday Jazz Brunch at The Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel. My first adventure to the old-hollywood-LA-chic hotel was on Golden Globe Sunday, three years ago. Pretty much any Sunday between late January and March, you can expect Beverly Hills’ top hotels to be hoppin’ with glittery evening gowns and dapper men in tuxedos as award show nominees and attendees get ready for their big nights…

Long after the client I was working with walked the red carpet, I was still enamored with the flamingo pink and forest green décor of the Beverly Hills Hotel — I mean, where else can you pull that off, but Los Angeles? A few weeks later I wandered back with some of my favorite girlfriends for brunch and we ended up spending most of our Sunday on the premises. Brunch turned into poolside relaxation which turned into afternoon coffees and before I knew it, it was 5 o clock!

Love it or hate it, LA tends to be a pretty laidback city when it comes to style. Most of my summer brunch looks consist of some combination of a high-waisted skirt in different silhouettes and a gauzy cotton top. I picked up this skirt from Topshop a few years back and love it’s versatility.  I found this graphic tee at J.Crew when I was stocking up on new tees before we took off for China earlier this summer.

The perfect equation for your next brunch look? Easy graphic tee + high-waisted mini + funky bangles + day-meets-night cocktail ring + subtle wedges + a great bag = One very effortlessly chic, California cool look!
