Have you all noticed the sixties influence in fashion this season? Everywhere you look there are oversized buttons, mod shifts, and cute peter pan collars, and there was no greater indication of the trend than this year’s Oscar red carpet scene. Anne Hathaway’s studded Miu Miu number and Naomi Watts’ Paco Rabonne-esque metallic stunner were both perfectly reminiscent of the bygone decade, and the notion has trickled all the way down to street styling. Now that we’re well into spring, the sixties are still in full swing!

I fell in love the minute I saw this J. Crew polka dot number! (They seriously have the best mod dresses right now!) In the evenings I wear it on it’s own with a bright pump and clutch, but this particular day I added this chambray peter-pan collar shirt to make the look a little more interesting. I’m a big fan of a preppy collar! It was still in need of a little color, though, so I added this electric blue necklace (also J. Crew) and ring by Audra’s Details.

Mod dresses can be a particularly flattering silhouette.  Make sure that the bust, neckline, and shoulders fit snugly, though, so the whole look doesn’t appear ill-fitting.

We photographed this look on a day when I was prepping for a fitting, and knew that a heel just wouldn’t cut it. I bought these flats recently and can’t stop wearing them! I love the stripes — and that I can be on my feet all day without remorse.

Are you into the sixties style?  Have you purchased anything sixties-esque recently that we should know about?  I just bought a pair of printed cigarette pants that I can totally picture my grandmother wearing in her Ft. Walton Beach days in the sixties!
