The Freshest Spring Lip Shades

By Tara Thompson Rasmus
Albeit Lipstick by Anthropologie

I don’t want to start any fights here, but in my opinion the much-beloved fall season has nothing on spring. Those first few soft breezes on your skin, the dappled light flowing through the fresh blooms on the trees, the scent of aforementioned blooms in the air—it’s simply magic. (Plus, it means that summer AND fall are ahead, and with it all manner of gorgeous weather.) One of my favorite rituals when the new season arrives is to update my makeup routine. Gone are my heavier foundations, liquid eyeliner, and wine lipstick, and unearthed are my favorite light bronzer, shimmery eyeshadows, and, most importantly, spring-y lip shades. New lipstick is a beauty girl’s version of a killer pair of shoes: the ability of this one simple element to completely freshen up one’s look cannot be underestimated. Read on to discover the lip shades I’m coveting this season, from the more expected pinks and corals to semi-matte reds and even plummy mauves. You’re going to be well-pouted this season, friends—make sure to tell me which lippies you’ll be adding to your routine!

The Estée Edit Barest Lip Color in Petal Pink Nude by Estée Lauder

A good nude is essential, especially when the mercury rises, which is why I love the Estée Edit’s new Barest Lip Color, which comes in six lovely nude shades so that everyone can find their “your-lips-but-better” shade.

Rainforest of the Sea Lipstick in Poppy Coral by Tarte

A pretty coral lippie is as essential for your spring wardrobe as a sun dress—this hydrating lipstick in Top Down is a wearable take on the trend.

O.G. Red True Red by Milk Makeup

Feeling bright? Slick on this intense (but easy to apply!) formula in Name Drop, an orange-red that will look smashing on any skin tone.

Albeit Lipstick by Anthropologie

It might seem a little counter-intuitive, but a slightly moody berry shade (like this lipstick in Violette) is a great foil for spring-y white clothes.

Fuschia Flood Lipstick by Burt’s Bees

A dusty nude lipstick works for any occasion—I love Burt’s Bees new all-natural formula in Blush Basin for its intense pigment and smooth application.

Eden Lipstick by Lipstick Queen

Just looking at this juicy pink hue is making me envision drinking Aperol spritzes on a patio—hello, summer!

Hydrating Lip Color Lissette La Coquette by La Bella Figura

Want to bring your cherry-red pout right into the new season? Choose a semi-matte formula to freshen up the look, like this hydrating pick.

‘Addict’ Milky Tint Nourishing Lip Fluid Wet Effect by Dior

As lovely as cherry blossoms, this super-pale lavender stain is as pretty as spring lippies can get.
