Pretty Simple :: Bandana Beauty

Bandana Beauty from camillestyles.com

We’ve been having so much fun gathering inspiration and styling shoots over the last few days that we kind of wish every week was Picnic Week. This afternoon we’re keeping the party going with a picnic edition of Pretty Simple, where Martha Lynn is going to walk us through styling the perfect hair and makeup for an al fresco date. If you’re like me, you love the look of a perfectly knotted bandana with hair teased and tucked just so — but for some reason I’m never sure of how to style the rest of my outfit accordingly. Whether you’re going for a classic pin-up girl or feeling totally boho, We’ve got the breakdown from Martha Lynn just after the jump…

Look 1: “Classic Pin-up”
To get this look you need the perfect red lip, red nails and some dramatic liquid linerSmashbox “Be Legendary” is the most perfect red lip out there, and if you find it in stores get twobecause they sell out fast!  Tease the hair just slightly on the bangs, then twist back and pin with a bobby pin before tying your bandana. Look 2:  ”Bohemian”

I absolutely love the bold print of this scarf, and to capture this look, dramatic lashes are a must.  For separation and length I am in love with Lancome Definicils, and for volume you can’t beat Dior Show. Either way, don’t skip the lash primer — apply primer and let it sit on your lashes (I usually let it sit while I brush my teeth) and then apply mascara.

    I never use eyelash primer, I’ll have to give that a shot! I love the bandana look, but my problem was keeping it from getting loose and having to re-do it mid-day. Sooo, I have found that securing the bandana or scarf with a couple bobby pin at the base of my neck (so they don’t show) or even at the temples (if you have some cute bobby pins that you want to show) will do the trick. Then, even if the knot on the scarf comes a bit loose, it wont wreck your look. :)

    I was just thinking about these last week! My husband and I were on our annual trip to the river, and my old head scarf just isn’t cutting it (plus these are so much prettier) :) Love the Bohemian look – what a doll!
