Pretty Simple :: Banded Ponytail

Today’s installment of Pretty Simple is near and dear to my heart for two reasons: first, Michelle’s long locks are just the reinforcement I (Chanel) needed to resist all urges to cut my hair. And second, is anybody else instantly reminded of Princess Jasmine when they look at this picture? I don’t know about you all, but since seeing this completed look I’ve been dying to host a Disney movie night just to rewatch some of my childhood favorites (and maybe pick up some beauty tips while I’m at it). This look is super easy to acheive, and even if your hair isn’t 3 feet long, you can still totally rock it by just subtracting a few links. Keep reading for the step-by-step instructions and a list of the products you’ll need, all brought to us by Martha Lynn and photographed by Cory Ryan.

  1. Brush hair into a ponytail and secure with an elastic. For added volume, tease beforehand.
  2. Continue tying elastics, spaced about 2 inches apart.
  3. Starting with the top link, gently tug on hair to loosen sections.

    Princess Jasmine, totally! And Chanel, I’m on board with the long hair :) I’ve been growing mine out since October and somehow haven’t chopped it back like I normally do. How can I have all this fun with hair if I can’t get it long?! (sigh). Thanks for the cute tutorial!

    I love this! When I was little my mom called this “Princess Jasmine hair” – I’m so happy it’s making a come-back.

    The perfect “dirty hair” hairstyle!

    Love this Martha Lynn… so simple, so cute. And absolutely perfect for the steamy Austin summers when I just need my hair OFF my face!

    I love this one too…I am SUPER jealous that my own hair isn’t long enough to pull this look off :-)

    You can also do that when you hair is wet and blow on it with a blow dryer or i you don’t have one you can sleep with it like that but in the morning either way you can take it out and you will have waves i used to do it when i was little alot!
