The Byrd Collective :: The Art of the Pot

the art of the pot ceramic pottery spring flowers florist vase beautiful austin texas local

Like all great friendships, Keith Kreeger and I (Ashley) first met on Instagram. He saw a photo advertising my pop-up shop at By George, and came out to meet me in person bearing one of his own handmade containers to fill with blooms for his wife. Since then, I’ve had so much fun collaborating with Keith, and I’m thrilled to be filling his vessels once again during The Art of the Pot ceramic studio tour. Keep reading for the inspiration behind this arrangement, as well as the details on scoring one of Keith’s vases filled with my flowers just in time for Mother’s Day… more +

Weekend Notes

Cinco_De_Mayo

Happy fiesta weekend! It’s a busy but fun couple of days around here… my great friend Jess is staying with us, looking at houses in preparation for her family’s big move to Austin next month (yippee!), so I’ll be playing tour guide and taking her to a few of my favorite spots in the city. And my little sis is in town for her 22nd birthday, so last night we celebrated with a pre-birthday party by the pool with tons of grilled pizzas, pinot grigio and a big layered birthday cake my mom brought over. It’s so rare to spend a whole weekend surrounded by old friends and family, and I’m definitely trying to unplug and savor these moments with the people I love. What are all of you up to this weekend? Hope it’s full of May sunshine and a couple of Cinco de Mayo margaritas! And of course, enjoy a few of my favorite links from the week…

Thought I couldn’t get more excited about having a baby girl…but I just did.

Love these kitchen styling tips from my girls Erin (big kitchen!) & Caitlin (small kitchen!)

This “Day of the Dead” wedding is brimming with Cinco de Mayo inspiration…

Considering breaking my neutral nail habit.

Tips for arranging flowers with the vases you already own.

A darling first birthday fiesta…love the taco bar.

Dreamy island memories that make me long for a getaway…

As does this fantasy sailing expedition.

Fiesta Fashion

After making this DIY piñata costume last year, I wondered if I’d ever be able to wear it again… silly me! Cinco de Mayo could not be a more perfect occasion to don this muy fabuloso outfit. So if you’re still trying to figure out what to wear for tomorrow’s festivities, think outside the embroidered Mexican dress and look no farther than your local craft store. What are you waiting for? Andale, andale! Arriba, arriba!

Gift Guide :: Mommy Dearest

mothers day mother's gift guide presents ideas diptyque candles j. crew black clutch gold necklace fingerprint rifle paper company stationery greeting cards

I mentioned last year that when it comes to Mother’s Day, I (Chanel) can practically do no wrong, because no matter what we plan, my mom is sure to burst into tears of joy at the first sight of a greeting card (and I’m embarrassed to admit that the crybaby gene has been passed down to me and my siblings). Of course, that doesn’t mean I get a free pass on gift giving, and this year we’ve rounded up a fabulous bunch of accessories that are perfect for mom (I’m lookin’ at you, Mr. White Truffle Oil). I’d absolutely love to hear about any special plans or traditions you and your family have on the agenda for next Sunday… and while we’re on the subject, don’t forget to enter our Mother’s Day giveaway before tomorrow for your chance to win $500 to Minted!

Dispatch :: Austin Food & Wine Festival

austin food and wine festival food network andrew zimmern morimoto chef demonstration photos cooking

Last weekend, Austin hosted it’s first annual Food & Wine Festival, and I was lucky enough to be one of the locals who spent the weekend devouring bites prepared by some of the nation’s best chefs, drinking amazing wine (well, my husband did) and watching the likes of Marcus Samuelsson and Masaharu Morimoto demo-ing their skills to captivated audiences filling the tents. Despite the crazy winds and summer temps, it was a total blast – and since I was a total slacker at snapping good photos, my friend Chris Perez was nice enough to share his with us. April Snapshots

instagrams_camillestyles

April, it’s been real… but I have to admit that I’m always giddy about starting the month of May. Not only is it my birthday month – it’s the kickoff to summer (the best season, in my book), and Adam and I have a little Santa Barbara getaway on the calendar in a couple weeks! As usual, wanted to share my favorite Instagrams (follow along @camillestyles) from the month to remember all the cool stuff that was packed into the last 30 days. April started with a trip to Epcot with HGTV where I presented to audiences at the Flower & Garden Festival… and ended with last weekend’s festivities at Austin Food & Wine Festival. In between there were shoots, shopping and a few great foodie moments, too. What was your highlight of April? I’d love to hear – and hope you’re all having a very happy May Day! xx

Minted_Personalized_Stationery2

Before jumping into the details of today’s incredible giveaway, I’ve got to start with a warning: If you happen to be Camille or Chanel’s mother, stop reading now. Okay, now that we’ve gotten that out of the way…all the rest of you pay close attention ’cause this is a big one! With Mother’s Day less than two weeks away, I’m hearing the onset of gift-giving anxiety that hits many of you every year. We were lucky enough to get our hands on a couple sets for our own mothers, and as you can see, they’re seriously stunning. Bring it Home :: Shake Things Up

I (Cristina) am one of those people who love to move furniture (who’s with me?) I may move my bed to the opposite wall just to see how it feels, and then move it right back. Or re-style the bookshelves on a whim. The urge to reinvent my space is especially strong in the spring, and I’d hazard a guess that I’m not alone! My favorite way to freshen up a space also happens to be the most affordable – taking pieces from one room and giving them new life in a different area of my home. Keep reading to see how to bring this look home, and I’d love to know: how do you shake things up for Spring? more +
