Pretty Simple :: Party Worthy Looks

By Martha Lynn
It’s official: the holidays are in full swing and that means a calendar full of holiday parties. With those fabulous fetes come a handful of opportunities to kick your day-to-day look up a notch and try something new, so today I wanted to share some holiday makeup inspiration along with some do’s and don’t for each look. Most of these can easily take you from day to night and focus on playing up one feature. What’s your go-to look for the holidays?

Red Lips & Liquid Liner – nothing makes a statement quite like the glamour of this retro look!
Do:  Take the time to line your entire lip before (see our tutorial on the perfect red lip).
Don’t: Overdo the eye makeup, let your lips be the center of attention.

Go Purple – from wine-stained lips to grape eye shadow, purple is everywhere this season, and really brings out blue eyes.
Do:  Choose one feature to play up
Don’t:  Be afraid to mix shades… do a lighter shade on your eyes with a deep merlot on your lips!

Bronze Yourself – a sun kissed complexion isn’t just for the summertime. Get that faux glow to add the perfect hint of goddess to your holiday look
Do: Try a bronzer as your blush for the ultimate in contouring.
Don’t: Overdo it… you don’t want to come off costumey.

Play up your cheeks – when it gets cold outside we can start to loose color on our face, so play up fair skin with peachy cheeks!
Do: Try a cheek stain, which stays on longer than blush.
Don’t: Forget to blend!

Pretty in Hot Pink – I am absolutely obsessed with hot pink lips, and even better if they are super shiny!
Do: Pair this look with solid black.
Don’t: Forget to reapply throughout the night.

Go Glittery – whether going over the top glitter or just a hint, I love shimmer on eyes during the holidays!
Do:  Layer a light shimmer on top of a favorite shadow.
Don’t: Apply it all the way to the brow line! Focus it from the crease down, especially if it’s a dramatic shade.
