In Season :: Blood Orange & Bourbon

Blood Orange & Bourbon // Love & Lemons for Camille Styles

Does anyone else crave citrus in the winter like I do? Jeanine here, and I’ve been on a citrus kick for weeks now… first in salads, then main dishes and now, in perhaps my favorite food group of all, the cocktail. I just love how the blood oranges add natural sweetness, and also a pop of color. We drink with our eyes first, right?

sounds like we were thinking alike this week!

  2. Yum! This sounds wonderful. I am thinking of trying it with my fave bourbon, Angel’s Envy– it’s a little tough to find, but worth the hunt. It’s aged in port wine barrels, so would be lovely with citrus like this! Cheers!

Ooh, I’ll have to search for that brand (their package design is to die for!)

Jeanine, this looks so glamorous! Blood oranges really step it up a notch. I haven’t fully developed a taste for Bourbon, but this seems like a good place to start.

    1. Jeanine Donofrio says:

Thanks Sarah! Bourbon isn’t so much my thing either (my husband Jack is really into it), but I really like it here… it’s lighter and less overwhelmingly bourbon tasting than, say, and old fashioned.

These are so beautiful, and I have no doubt they’re going to be delicious, too. I might just mix one up for my own little “happy hour” this evening… And I love great cocktail recipes that only call for a handful of ingredients!

I hope you liked it! I know… I have little patience for cocktails with too many components 🙂

Love this idea for a cocktail. I recently developed a taste for bourbon, especially with honey! Thanks for the recipe.

    1. Jeanine Donofrio says:

Me and you both. I love it with honey (or sometimes maple) too.

      1. Camille Styles says:

Oh YUM – maple sounds like such a great combo!!

Wow. I came to this recipe through a Pinteret pin. I rarely drink during the week, but after a horribly long and stressful day today, I came home and mixed this up. It is so amazing! Perfect winter drink!
