Monochromatic Monday :: Robin’s Egg

easter_party_ideas

Morning lovelies! I arrived back from Epcot Center late last night, where I’ve been speaking to audiences for the last few days at the International Flower & Garden Festival for HGTV. Between multiple presentations each day, to squeezing in as much of the parks as possible (it was my first Disney trip!) my schedule was action packed…but on the last night, as we stood on a deck overlooking the Magic Kingdom and watched the fireworks go off above Cinderella’s castle, I did have that moment where I stopped to savor the pure magic of it all. Speaking of magic, are y’all preparing for candy-filled eggs and sprightly Easter bunnies this weekend? I have to admit that I’m seeing it all through more childlike eyes this year as we await the arrival of our baby girl. Can’t believe that next Easter, I’ll be putting together her first Easter basket and shopping for the perfect little springtime dress! For this year’s board, I was inspired by the mottled blues and earth tones of a robin’s egg as the jumping-off point for a celebration that’s organic and simple with the perfect dose of frilliness. I’m especially loving that blue linen napkin topped with a vintage envelope and tiny quail egg, and the porcelain bowl brimming over with barely-there pastel dyed eggs. Since I’m hosting both our families for Easter brunch this year, I’m definitely thinking about simple ways to make the gathering special. Do any of you have Easter traditions that the family loves? Do you fill baskets, give gifts or make a certain menu item every year?

    I remember when I was a kid, my mom hid my Easter basket. While I was searching through the house for it, she would tell me if I was “hot” (getting close to the basket) or “cold” (moving farther away from the basket). I can’t wait to do that for Olivia but it’ll be several years yet for that.

      So fun – I was always SO giddy to dig into my easter basket every year. Sometimes my mom packed it with hair bows or nail polish in addition to the candy. ;)
