There is just no place quite like downtown Savannah, GA… the old historic homes with secret gardens in hidden courtyards, the inviting squares full of children playing and students creating, and Forsyth Park, in all its splendor. I (Ashley) had just returned from a wonderfully inspirational trip to Savannah when the lovely Ana of Grown Up Shoes was coming to work with me, and I drew all my inspiration from my recent travels to create something special for her.
Walking into Austin Flower Company, I was greeted by gorgeous tulip magnolia branches and just knew it was a purple kind of day. Deep red ranunculus (and you know how I feel about ranunculus), purple lilac, parrot tulips and camellia filled my arms and put a twinkle in my eye, and I rushed home to fill one of my favorite containers: a black glass urn from the 1934 World’s Fair, found at the Austin Antique Mall. With such stunning blooms, it was easy to make an arrangement that might actually be found in the parlor of one of those beautiful old Savannah homes in the 1930′s. Follow the jump for a few more images of the final product, and I’d love to know… what city inspires you?
