Entertaining With :: Antiquaria

By Chanel Dror

If you’re wondering where you’ve heard the name Antiquaria before, it was probably right here. We are such huge fans of the dynamic design duo & vintage housewares collectors, that we feature their beautiful work nearly every chance we get… so it was only a matter of time before we asked Emma and Bailey to share their gorgeous entertaining styles with us, and boy are we glad we did. So often vintage dinnerware gets cast into a particular aesthetic, but our leading ladies did an amazing job of showing us just how versatile it can be — where Emma’s style is laid back and colorful, Bailey’s is feminine and traditional (and features her own stunning calligraphy). Click through for a peak into what it’s like to party with the gals of Antiquaria via gorgous photos by Jamie Simon, and if you haven’t already, be sure to check out their new site!

Starting with a baja-chic party at Emma’s…

My entertaining style in 5 words or less:

Casual & Lighthearted.

My standard host / hostess outfit:

A dress that suits my mood and flip flops.

The taste I’m always craving:

Mexican.

The kitchen rule I rarely break:

Keep it fresh and simple.

Always in my refrigerator:

Cholula Sauce & avocado.

My must-have entertaining tool:

Ice and good music.

The restaurant meal I’ll never forget:

Zenkichi in Brooklyn. It’s a total experience from the un-marked entrance, private booth seating and truly unique japanese cuisine. It really felt like we were in Japan.

My signature entertaining dish:

Shrimp Tacos, this is a dish that we’ve perfected over the years. It’s easy to prepare and never disappoints.

My dream dinner guests:

Sofia Coppola and John Stewart and Wes Anderson.

The perfect dinner party playlist includes:

Chris rules the roost in the music department. I’m so lucky to have a husband that somehow always knows exactly what to play. When I’m on my own, I default to Pandora.

…and off to a beautiful dinner at Bailey’s…

My entertaining style in 5 words or less:

Traditional, fun, warm & meaningful.

The kitchen rule I rarely break:

No overly processed food. I try to make all of my dishes as natural as possible.

My dream dinner guests:

My paternal grandmother, Charlotte who everyone says that I take after but I was never able to meet, Martha Stewart, Sophie Kinsella, Ernest Hemingway

The taste I’m always craving:

Spicy.

The restaurant meal I’ll never forget:

When I took my husband (then boyfriend) out for his 23rd to Vespaio on South Congress. We enjoyed a 3 course meal that was absolutely divine. My main dish was  a slow braised pork shoulder with olives over creamy risotto…to this day, I haven’t tasted anything that has topped it.

My signature entertaining dish:

For the longest time, we’ve had an on-going, rotational, supper club to try out new dishes from all over the world. Because of this, I’ve never really cultivated a true go-to dish.

My standard host / hostess outfit:

I like to dress up but don’t get to as often as I want to so when I’m entertaining, I’ll almost always be in a dress.

The perfect dinner party playlist includes:

Lots of retro favorites from the 50’s all the way through some 90’s pop. The key is to keep everyone smiling.

Always in my refrigerator:

Butter, eggs & a vast collection of condiments.

My must-have entertaining tool:

Andrew Dornenburg and and Karen Page’s book “What to Drink with What you Eat.”
