The Iconic Hostess :: Cher Horowitz

Clueless Themed Party | Grown Up Shoes for Camille Styles

So, I know what you’re thinking: is this like a Noxzema commercial or what? But seriously, I actually have a great party plan for you in September. That’s right, Ana here and we’re throwing a back to school bash with my favorite high school student of all time, Cher Horowitz. I had way too much fun planning this month’s party: an ode to knee-high tights, daddy’s credit card and the ever so lovable Clueless heroine. Although Cher perhaps isn’t the consummate hostess, it is she who said “Tis a far, far better thing doing stuff for other people”… or wait, I actually think she got that from Cliff’s Note. Whatever! It’s time to grab your Betties and Baldwins, don your latest Contempo Casuals ensemble and get a spritz of your best designer imposter perfume. Oh—and whatever you do, don’t forget to do a lap before committing to a location.  If you get stuck talking to Elton for too long, you’ll be totally buggin’.

The Drink: Non-fat lattes are Cher’s drink of choice, but if you’re actually out of high school and of age (ahem!), a keg and some red solo cups are festive without looking like you tried too hard to impress. Just make sure you have a good cab company on speed dial for your guests — we don’t want drinking and driving, do we? As if!

The Food: As Cher’s rules go, you always need to have something baking when boys come over. If this is a co-ed party, she’d advise us to throw a roll of uncut cookie dough into the oven and call it a day. Alternately, in keeping with our Back to School theme, I suggest something of the school cafeteria variety: pizza cut into rectangles, tiny iceberg salads with ranch and chocolate milk cartons do the trick.

The Entertainment: As long as Rollin’ with the Homies, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones and The Cranberries are on your mixed tape, you’ll be all set for a night of late night revelry. For those who sleep over, have Spartacus (or “Sparaticus”) cued up and ready to go.  Christian would approve.

Can’t get enough of Clueless? Listen to the whole soundtrack right here.

I’ve never commented on a blog before, but I had to comment on this post. This absolutely made my day, being an undeniably huge Cluesless fan. Thanks for the hilarious post that I passed onto my friends who also share the love for Cher (named after a great singer of the past). Thank you!

Ah, so glad you liked it! And honored that you broke your no-comment rule for the post. I’m a non-commenter too…but who can resist Cher? ;)

Haha, you nailed it Ana! Especially love the feather pen. We should do one of these for our own high school days, although it will not be nearly as good looking or glamorous…
