A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of co-hosting a stylish Southern brunch with my designer friend Katie Kime to celebrate the opening of her first brick and mortar store. It was an unforgettable morning full of gorgeous design (her house!), amazing food (churros!) and a guest list that included the chicest gals from both Austin and NYC, and I couldn’t resist sharing my favorite moments here. Click through for a case of major design envy, as well as the recipe for those epic churros!

We kicked off the morning at Katie’s home — is that dining room stunning, or what? Guests were invited to mix (cocktails), mingle, and celebrate before being shuttled to check out a sneak peek of Katie’s new store the day before it officially opened to the public.

The gracious hostess herself. I’ve loved getting the chance to get to know this talented gal over the past few months, and am pretty in awe of all that she’s accomplished. She’s both a brilliant designer and a savvy business woman, and her home is a warm and wonderful reflection of the unique Katie Kime brand she’s created.

The lush late-summer flowers were done by Posey Floral & Event Design. I loved all the brilliant color they used in the arrangements.

So many of my favorite Austin girls gathered around the table to catch up and dig into the delicious Southern-inspired menu by Word of Mouth Catering.

Talk about a statement piece: these hand-carved barn-inspired sliding doors separate Katie’s living room from the home office.

Bon appetit! How cute are these handmade cutlery envelopes? Such a pretty way to help guests with the silverware/plate/cup juggle that always seems to happen in the buffet line.

Katie strikes a pose with members of the CS team, Chanel and Jenn.

Brunch is really just an excuse to drink mimosas, right? Katie offered a variety of fresh juices so guests could customize their own.

And the piece de la résistance — these incredible churros that Word of Mouth whipped up for the occasion. I didn’t realize I was such a huge churros fan until I tried these and became completely addicted. And thankfully we convinced them to share…

Everyone gravitated toward the colorful patio to enjoy one of the last summery days of the year.

Would you believe that this woman moved into her just-remodeled house, then got married, participated in her first runway show and celebrated the opening of her first store, all within the same month? And she somehow looked cool as a cucumber the entire time.

Inspired by one of her signature tropical prints, we incorporated a pineapple motif throughout the party. Mini succulents were lined up at the door for guests to take home.

On to the store! The designers, editors, and tastemakers who attended the party hopped into shuttles that took us to an advance peek before it opened to the public the next day.

One of my favorite corners of the new space. I love how Katie’s pieces feel really chic, but she manages to infuse a sense of fun and whimsy into everything she does.

An exotic mix of Katie’s favorite rugs, blankets, pillows and baskets that she’s curated from around the globe.

If you’re in Austin, head over to 5th and Lamar to shop the inspiring new space for yourself!
