Up next in our star-studded Thanksgiving DIY series is Merrilee Liddiard, author of Mer Mag and  crafty mom to three of the cutest kids I’ve ever seen. She put together this precious project that’s just as easy as it is adorable… without further ado, take it away Merrilee!

My kids love having fun, festive entertainment at the Thanksgiving table. And I love it when those details make a simple, decorative statement while being super easy to make. These playful turkeys — made from paper cups and scraps of colorful paper — are just that…

  1. Start by printing and cutting out the turkey head and feathers template. Trace stencils onto colorful paper as shown, and cut out. Assemble the turkey head by placing the eyes, beak, and dewlap onto turkey head, then cut small slit out of the bottom of the head at an angle.
  2. Lay out six feathers – three on either side of your turkey head.
  3. Cut a small slit at the base of each feather at an angle, as pictured.
  4. Paint or drawn on feather veins.
  5. Assemble the turkey by placing head and feathers onto the edges of cup
