Winter Forest Inspiration Board | Camille Styles

I like the quietness of January –  it’s the month where many of us actually find the relaxing moments we had hoped for during the holidays. For me, nothing’s better than reading part of a good story each night before bed. If you grew up on C.S. Lewis like I did, then one glance at this board should reveal its inspiration. As a child, I could be found many cold nights armed with a flashlight and paperback, curled in a window seat. The Chronicles of Narnia were a favorite and the image of that quiet, snowy forest has never left my mind. Currently I’m enjoying another fantasy classic, The Once and Future King by T. H. White. Whether it’s reading a good book, cleaning out your closets or making it back to yoga class, we hope that you’re enjoying some quality “you” time this January.

  1. This post made me gasp. I love winters living in Detroit Michigan this time of the year I am in full winter mode. A little confused right now because the grounds are bare. I love the gorgeous antlers on the deer. There is nothing like snow covered trees so pretty. The snow fox is to die for. Photos make me want to snuggle.

Yes, the little fox is my favorite! This was a bit of “wishful thinking” from me down in Austin (not a snowflake in sight for us this winter). Once in a blue moon we’ll get a day or two of snow down here, but it sounds like you have a very pretty winter season in Michigan. Sounds lovely…

  2. Jenn, this board is positively breathtaking in its beauty. Totally transportive on this chilly January morning…

    • Jennifer Rose Smith says:

Thanks so much, C! Maybe we will see some real snow on our trip to Salt Lake here in a few weeks… I can’t wait!

  3. Andrea says:

    Love this!

  4. I love it too! I LOVE frosty winters and think this time of year is so beautiful and can be very inspiring!

    • Jennifer Rose Smith says:

Thanks, Erin! Summer gets a lot of air-time down here in Austin, but we like to look for visual inspiration from all the seasons.

  5. Gorgeous! I also feel a sense of peace after the holidays… like you finally get a little “Me” time back to enjoy a good book.

    • Jennifer Rose Smith says:

Thanks, Colette! I’m definitely enjoying some down-time, myself. Nothing better than a good book or movie…

    Love This! Thank You!

  7. Annabelle says:

I haven’t read “The Once and Future King” in years; I am going to have to pick that up. Gorgeous spread. (It almost reconciles me to the cold weather here in New England!)

    • Jennifer Rose Smith says:

Annabelle, this is my first time to read it and I can’t put it down. I’m really enjoying T.H. White’s style. So charming and innocent.

  8. Alicia says:

    Wow… absolutely stunning!!!
