Monochromatic Monday :: Oxblood & Indigo

Oxblood & Indigo Inspiration | Camille Styles

I’ve always thought of oxblood as kind of vampy (a look that doesn’t really work on me) but this season the dramatic deeper-than-burgundy shade has taken a more sophisticated turn. As designers marched it out on runways and I began to notice it showing up in cocktails and autumnal sweets, oxblood suddenly feels like a spot-on way to embrace the moodier feeling that blew in with this weekend’s cold front. For today’s inspiration board, I paired oxblood with equally dramatic shades of indigo and charcoal, and it seems like the perfect palette for an October dinner party – the first fire burning in the fireplace and my go-to glasses of sauvignon blanc traded in for carafes of pinot noir. And what’s on the menu? Definitely one of these beauties to kickoff the evening, followed by something incredibly cozy, like this root vegetable & cauliflower tagine and a loaf of crusty bread to sop up all the juices. So what do you think – is oxblood a shade you’re ready to embrace this season?
