Happy {1 Month} Phoebe!

Baby Phoebe | Camille Styles

How in the world is our baby girl already a month old? In 30 days, I’ve already become the stereotypical mom who bemoans how fast time flies and gets teary thinking about her daughter being “all grown up.” Motherhood has been a dream, and despite the sleepless nights and a few crying-filled days, I can’t imagine life without her. Yesterday Adam and I went for a long lunch while Phoebe stayed with her grandmother, and instead of “escaping” for a couple of hours we found ourselves laughing over videos on our phones of her. We’re more than a little obsessed. I’m starting to dip my toes back into work, stealing a couple of hours every day to answer emails and do some client work while she naps. I’m feeling excited to get back to blogging every day (soon!), and start this new journey of balancing work life and motherhood. It’s a topic I talked about here and here, and I continue to be inspired by all the strong, talented women who are managing to grow professionally while being completely present in their children’s lives. Love this quote from fashion entrepreneur Eleanor Ylvisaker in her recent interview on The Glow:

I try to designate time to work, and time to be with my kids, and try not to mix the two. It’s better to be 100% focused on my children when I’m with them, and 100% focused at work when I’m in the office. Answering work e-mails while at the playground is no fun for anyone!

Definitely a philosophy I’d like to adopt, and I look forward to reading your thoughts, comments and advice on the subject! Oh, and one other thing I’ve been working on during this little “break” – we’re gearing up for a big site redesign at the end of the week. It’s something that I’ve been planning for months, and I couldn’t be more excited to unveil the new look over the weekend. It’s major.

I agree that it is best to work when the kids are sleeping, at school, ect. though as I write this my kids are watching a cartoon :) Several of my friends had babies last year, and it is so amazing how quickly they change + grow into little toddlers. Enjoy!

Excited about the major redesign! Congratz on motherhood. I’m still trying and hope to be preggy by the end of the year. Until then, I’m enjoying working around the clock. :) No breaks for me!

Congrats on your sweet baby girl! I thought I could work and watch my little guy simultaneously and I was wrong! Eleanor Ylvisaker is absolutely right. It is better to give 100% of your attention to your baby part time, than 50% all of the time.
