I thought that I’d have zero time for reading with a newborn, but as it turns out, having great books loaded onto my iPad has been lifesaving for getting through those middle-of-the-night feedings! Being at home more than usual has also give me the itch to expand my horizons a bit, and reading some things outside my usual zone provides a great escape. Here’s what’s on my October reading list, and please leave a comment letting me know of any books you highly recommend – I’m always looking to add to next month’s list!
{1} Since I’m already obsessed with The Selby Is in Your Place, I have no doubt that I’ll be equally as inspired by Edible Selby, in which photographer Todd Selby captures the kitchens, gardens, homes and restaurants of chefs and tastemakers around the globe. He always manages to find the most fascinating people and showcase their inner lives in such an honest, creative way…and I can’t wait to see the way that he does it through the lens of the food they prepare, serve and enjoy.
{2} Gypset Travel explores the glam-boho lifestyles of the “gypsy jet set” in destinations from Italy to Uruguay…and I have no doubt it’ll be brimming with fashion and interior inspiration from these style-setters who effortlessly infuse so much color and individuality into their way of life. Can’t wait until it hits shelves at the end of this month.
{3} I’ve been loving memoirs lately, and Let’s Take the Long Way Home is next on my list. My mom (who happens to be my most trusted literary advisor) just finished it and said it was impossible to put down. “A story of how an extraordinary bond between two women can illuminate the loneliest, funniest, hardest moments in life, including the final and ultimate challenge.” I have a feeling it’s going to make me even more thankful for the amazing female friendships that bring so much joy to my life.
{4} Okay, maybe I’m being ambitious with this one (it’s pushing 1000 pages), but Anna Karenina is thought by some to be the world’s greatest novel… I’ve somehow never read it, and I feel like it would be a crime to see this year’s movie without first savoring the classic as it was originally written. (watch the trailer…it looks soooo good!)
