27 Best Christmas Cookie Recipes

December 9th, 2016

There are few things in the world more evocative of holiday memories than the scent of cookies baking in the oven — for me, the aromas of mexican wedding cookies (or, “sand tarts,” as my Texan grandmother called them) and classic cutout sugar cookies are particularly full of nostalgia. The big question? Whether to stick with the old favorites, or give some new more adventurous flavors a whirl. The answer, of course, is to do both, and this roundup of our 27 favorite Christmas cookie recipes is sure to include just the one you’re craving. And we’d love to hear: what cookie recipe always makes it feel like the holidays at your house?

Wow, you just put me in the mood to start baking, even though I’m still recovering from an epic Thanksgiving meal!
Hard to pick a favorite, but the Martha Stewart cookies are beautiful. The pistachios truffles would be such a fun treat to give to someone who’s been very good this year.

Oh, you tease! With a week planned for detoxing after Thanksgiving, this is not what I need to see (viewed 2x so far). Great selection and just in time. Cookie Swap next week.

We always make these walnut cookies sandwiched with Nutella– ground walnuts go into the cookie dough which makes it crumbly without being too heavy. So good (and just posted about them on my blog for the curious.) 🙂
