21 Reasons We Want To Be Aussie Girls

By Camille Styles

Australia is having a major moment around our office lately. It seems like just about every new food trend, cool girl fashion label, and design-forward boutique hotel we talk about just happens to come from down under, so much so that we’ve even coined a new phrase: “That’s so Aussie.” In case you’re wondering, we mean it as the highest compliment. Though I haven’t actually been there (yet), I’ve already decided that in another life I want to be born in Sydney, spending my days surfing and eating avocado toast and my nights sampling the exotic multicultural cuisine of the city. Keep scrolling for the top 21 reasons I think Australia is the coolest place on the planet right now, and what I’d be doing if I was a real Aussie girl.

We’d start the day with a morning surf at Bondi Beach.

Then dig into a post-surf breakfast: the buckwheat bowl at Bills topped with kefir, avocado, sprouting seeds, poached egg, and red harissa. Rumor has it that this is the spot that started many of the breakfast trends that have finally made it to the States.

We’d surround ourselves with flowers at The Grounds of Alexandria

And dive into the pages of Est Magazine.

We’d update our wardrobe at Worn

and stock up on our bath products at Aesop.

We’d head back to the beach for a dip in the Bondi Icebergs swimming pool…

where we’d sport our Triangl swimsuits

and a flat brimmed hat from Lack of Color.

For lunch, we’d throw a picnic like this one shot by our favorite Aussie photographer Luisa Brimble,

inspired by Nina Olsson’s colorful salads and grain bowls,

and top off our meal with an almost-too-pretty-to-eat vegan dessert from @sobeautifullyreal.

Of course, we’d serve it all up on our Mud Australia ceramic dishes.

We’d definitely drink our afternoon coffee here.

And for dinner, we’d chill out with Turkish food along the waterfront at the beautiful Anason.

Then we’d tuck ourselves in at the Watsons Bay Hotel,

and catch up on our reading of Gritty Pretty, an online magazine that absolutely nails the fresh-scrubbed, natural beauty look.

We’d check in on Elsa’s latest adventures for even more Aussie girl #goals…

before dreaming about pastel-rainbow unicorn smoothies and toasts,

and the most beautiful bridal inspiration from The Lane.

In the morning, we’d pack our bags for a long weekend away in Satellite Island.
