Brainstorming a DIY Pouf | Claire Zinnecker for Camille Styles

It’s not often that I find time to kick back and relax, but when I do, I like to do it right. Because my charming little home boasts a proportionately tiny living room, I opt not to have a coffee table — which makes for a terrific space-saver, but in turn makes propping my feet up and lounging virtually impossible. My solution? A pouf! Though small in size, poufs can get pretty pricey, so thought this would be the perfect project to tackle myself. I’ve gathered images of some of the prettiest poufs I’ve found, and though I have to admit that I’m a bit intimidated by this project, I’m super excited to get started. So I’d love to hear from all of you: Which of these 4  inspirational images would you like to see me make into my perfect pouf? Pitch in your thoughts and ideas, and stay tuned for the reveal in two weeks!

  1. I love the first one- I think it would function a little better as a “coffee table” than some of the others.

  2. I love the metallic ones! Can’t wait for this DIY. I always want to buy a pouf but they tend to be kind of pricey.

  3. What a great idea! I’m loving image 3, but 4 looks super cozy and soft. Tough choice!

  4. Laura says:

    Metallic, please! 🙂

  5. Gail says:

I like #1&2. The second one wold be better for me..

  6. The fourth, chunky knit ones! I want one of these for my soon-to-be baby’s nursery in June, but I don’t want to spend a lot of money. On any of the items. I didn’t even know you COULD diy these, I’d love to see how!

  7. Christina says:

I love 3 and 4! Either would be a really cool DIY.

  8. britsauer says:

    Definitely four!

  9. Laurel says:

    The last one!

  10. Kim says:

the last one looks the most fun although i love them all

  11. Lisa says:

I have been looking for an affordable Moroccan pouf for ages, so I would love to see a DIY for that one!

  12. Allison says:

I love the knitted one, but that might be hard to finish in two weeks. I think the burlap one is presh!

  13. Hollis says:

I love all of them, but I would love to see “The Nest” — #2 — because it’s unique and looks extra comfy!!

  14. Babette says:

Leave it to me to get stuck in directions- I was thinking just 3 choices. So…. In view of correcting my way of thinking I lean or should I say lay toward two. Your godmother who has lounging down to a fine art! 😉
I confess #4 did compete for my affection.

  15. Eric says:

The last one or the second one

  16. Claire, the 1st is the best. There is something chic and stylish about it. Maybe the fabric or possibly the oversized external seaming, but I love it. Pop a block slate of granite or chunky wood on the top and you’d have the perfect coffee table! What do you think?

You can also make your own. Here is a link to a great DIY from Better Homes and Gardens. I made one myself and it was super easy!

    • clairezinnecker says:

Thanks, Catherine! I am going to attempt to make my own as well, but I think I am going to try to figure out the step by steps on my own….fingers crossed that I can! 🙂 Stay tuned for the final product..

  18. Alison says:

No. 1 and No. 3, por favor!!

  19. Tara says:

No. 3 in metallic! I would want that in my new living room…

  20. pouf 1 or pouf 2, for sure. can’t wait to see! xx

  21. Kate says:

    I vote number 1.

  22. Chelsea says:

    Number 2 is super cool.

  23. Meaghan says:

If you’re really in need of a little coffee table, I’d say the metallic poof (add a tray and you’re good to go!), but that second, oversized sock image looks all-too-good to pass up on. Can’t wait!

  24. bigperm81 says:

    2 or 4, obvs.

  25. Teale says:

    1 or 4!

  26. Liz B says:

I love the second one so much!!

  27. Mehgan T. says:

Love #4! my roomies are crocheting machines if you need help.. haha

  28. lillian says:

numner 1, number 1!!! It looks functional and comfortable!

  29. […] More soup today (you can find the recipe over at the Daily Quirk). This is my go to soup recipe as it is so easy and we always have the ingredients in the cupboards. It’s particularly good when you’re feeling a little low, and are indulging in sulking, which is what we were doing in our flat yesterday. As our lease is up soon, and our lovely little city apartment is feeling, well, little, we’ve been looking to upsize. After almost a month of religiously checking rental websites and coming up with nothing we found somewhere that on paper was perfect, and went to view it yesterday. When the agent wrote ‘in good condition’ they had evidently overlooked the water damage in both the kitchen and the bathroom where a pipe had burst (which they couldn’t guarantee the owner would rectify). It was also far from being more spacious, it looked about the same size as our current place, but with an extra wall to make a second room. So 2013 might not be the year we move, but if it’s not, it will be the year we add the final touches to our current home (trying to look on the upside). It also gives my obsessive pinning purpose. Here are a few of my favourite bits of inspiration: photo wall/bedroom colour scheme/mini bar/different coloured pouffes […]

I love #1. I think if you figure that one out, I can make it too!

  31. […] and I couldn’t be more excited to present to you all my latest project! Two weeks ago I asked for your suggestions on which pouf I should make, and though I loved them all, I took […]

  32. Becca says:

I really love the pouf in the top image with the seaming. It feels very fresh and I haven’t seen one quite like it before.

  33. moroccan says:

I love this pouffes especially the moroccan one! thank you for this blog post.

  34. Peggy says:

Is there a pattern for the first one?

  35. Peggy R. says:

I would really like to make the second image (Lounger in t-shirt yarn). Is there a pattern for that?
