Do You Dare :: Catch My Drift Wood

April 25th, 2012

As we move from cozy dens to breezy patios and sip sparkling whites in place of robust reds, I (Michelle) am so ready to say see ya later to any and all signs of winter, and there is no season like spring to re-think the way we style our homes. Since we’re all about spaces that combine storage solutions with eye-catching decor, I’m loving the idea of stacking winter’s surplus timber to towering heights in any room of the house as an alternative to the out-of-sight, out-of-mind approach (i.e. the backyard shed). Take a gander at more woodsy spaces after the jump, and we’re pining to know: would you dare to add a rustic touch of stacked firewood to your interiors?

Wow, I love the graphic effect of the wood on the last photo. Judy Alridge also uses her fireplace as wood storage and I think the effect is gorgeous (link below). A great idea, but I do, however, worry about spiders nesting in the wood.

Such a great decoration idea, also quite practical! It adds such a rustic feel to an otherwise clean and chic room. 🙂

I love the blunt contrast the wood has in comparison to the stark white of the decor.

Totally loving the stacked wood – it adds a clean and natural element to any home!!!

  7. This is something that I definitely would dare to do…

Just as soon as I have a house with a fireplace!

It looks fantastic, and is practical. The wood has to be stored somewhere, so why not make a feature of it?

would i dare? i dream about it! i love this look so much and have plans to create something similar to photo #2. my only fear is of the spiders that like to live in wood piles. how do i keep them from moving in? i’ll definitely start with nice clean wood you can find at grocery stores.

Teresa, little critters are definitely a concern I have as well. I think your suggestion of getting wood from a clean source is key, thanks for sharing! Best of luck!
