Do You Dare :: Ikat Invasion

Michelle here, with this week’s (extremely energetic) design dare. By now, you may have picked up on the fact that I tend to go gaga for graphics, and of course, ikat is no exception. Did you know that Ikat means ‘to bind,’ and is rooted in the ancient textile technique of resist-dyeing threads before the fabric is woven? Me neither, and lately, the tribal beat of this print has taken on a modern tune in a sea of textures and contrasting colors…and in these rooms, the motif is brighter and bolder than ever. Follow the jump for more, and we’re dying to know: would you dare to style your room with a patterned mix of eclectic ikat?

I love it on curtains; great choices with the first photos for examples! Normally I’d be scared to do it in an enclosed space like a powder room, but that last pic, with the gold accents, is calling my name!!
