Freshly back from last week’s trip to SoCal, and still feeling inspired by the amazing food, cool architecture and of course, stunning ocean views that always leave me feeling completely rejuvenated. We started the trip in LA for a bunch of business meetings and managed to squeeze in visits to a few new-to-me spots – The Tasting Kitchen in Venice (incredible dinner – prepare yourself for a 4-hour feast), Caulfield’s at the Thompson Hotel (such a cool vibe for a working lunch) and Malibu Beach Inn (an out-of-the-way spot that feels super glam with stunning ocean views.) Keep reading for a little more LA and then on to La Jolla…

We had a delish dinner with my fave LA girl Jen at Pace…with it’s tucked away locale and handmade pastas, it’s definitely a spot I’ll be heading back to on future trips. And I really can’t say enough about Sunset Tower Hotel – it made the perfect restful sanctuary at the end of our jam-packed days. Then we left the bustle of LA for the serenity of La Jolla…

La Jolla was the first trip that Adam and I took when we first started dating, and it’s a really special place that I know we’ll return to our whole lives. There’s nothing that slows down the pulse of everyday life like strolling along the cliffs and watching the waves break. We always take a long walk around the neighborhoods and explore the spanish-inspired architecture, point out our favorite homes and get totally inspired by the gorgeous flowers and plants that grow abundantly everywhere.

Definitely brought home a few ideas I want to recreate in our garden. I’d love to hear – what vacation destinations have most inspired you?

We’re staying in Venice for a month or so over the summer and this post has just made me so excited for it all. And The Tasting Kitchen is going on my list of places to eat at!

  2. I have spent a lot of time in Venice, but never made it to The Tasting Kitchen! I’ll have to do that next time I visit. Gjelina is one of my favorites, delicious and creative meals. Beautiful photos!

  5. Lovely pics, glad you had a good trip…many places have inspired me in different ways, but none like Paris. It infused me…sigh.

The hard part will be deciding where in Cali to go… Napa, San Diego, San Francisco, LA, Santa Barbara – all are equally wonderful in their own unique way!

I love La Jolla and hope to return one day!

My most inspiring vacation was to the Greek isle of Santorini. The blue water, the cliffs, the blue domed roofs, the beaches, the caldera, the infamous windmill, the food, the cavern like pools…I could go on forever.

I also really enjoyed the gardens and outdoor spaces of Tokyo. I was blown away at they’re ability to preserve so much green space despite such a large city. They also have a great talent for gardening in small spaces like balconies and patios.

Isn’t Santorini amazing? We went there a couple of summers ago, and you really feel like you’re a million miles from everything. The stark white against all that blue water… Never been to Tokyo however, and would love to go. I feel like the inspiration would be completely different from anything I’d see in Europe!

  9. Camille! These photos are beautiful! I see your photography “classes” are helping out. Also, you’re stunning in your photos!

Beautiful pictures! I haven’t been to La Jolla in years, but I think I may need to plan another visit sometime. Such a beautiful area.

  11. Camille, how neat to see you in my neck of the woods! You look stunning. La Jolla is one of my favorite places to head to when we get the chance. The neighborhoods are breathtaking and the downtown area is great for walking around. Best to you!
