Monochromatic Monday :: A Clean Slate

Back to School Inspiration | Camille Styles

If you listen closely, you can almost hear the first period bell ringing. Believe me, I was just as thrilled as the next 18-year-old girl when graduation day arrived, but now that it’s been ten years since I’ve set foot in those locker-lined hallways, I’ve gotta admit that I look back on it all with rose-tinged glasses. And that first day of school was always pretty thrilling. Putting on the new outfit I’d been planning for weeks, calling all my friends to make sure we were in the same classes and of course, filling my backpack with crisp new notebooks and pens with caps that were as yet unchewed. Today’s inspiration board pays homage to that unmistakable feeling of new beginnings, and even though it’s “just another day” for most of us, I’m choosing to embrace the spirit of clean slates that the first day of school always brings with it. Who’s with me?

And I’d love to hear in the comments: what are your favorite memories of the first day of school?

i loved the first day of school. my favorite memory was our “send off” breakfast. my mom would wake up super early and make sure we have pancakes soaked in syrup as a last summer treat before the new school year!

In a few short years, Camille, you will experience the first day of school from the other side of the door as your little girl puts on her favorite outfit to head off to kindergarten. I’ll be reading your blog that day also, probably with a tissue in hand :)
Love the inspiration board and the very idea of fall!

Honestly, I usually hated the first day of school. It always made me nervous, and looking back I can’t figure out why! But I have to say that I do love me some fresh, new office supplies so there’s always that :)

I am working on a birthday party for my sister right now and the theme is school. She is an educator and loves it! These pictures are helpful- thank you! I will have to post pics on my blog for the world! My center pieces are books, flowers and bugs in jars. Sounds weird but its actually quite cute. Thanks for the ideas!
