Monochromatic Monday :: And the Oscar Goes To…

Oscar Party Inspiration Board | Camille Styles

Final voting for this year’s Oscars ends tomorrow (this is the first year that members of the Academy can vote online… weird, huh?), and this Sunday I’ll definitely be tuning in to see the winners…as well as the dresses (good and bad), bling and beauty looks. Between you and me, the red carpet is kind of the main event for me. Are you guys hosting or attending an Oscars party this year? I’m probably going to be hanging out at home with the fam, but that doesn’t mean I won’t still add a few glam touches to make the evening feel festive. This cocktail, a pasta I’ve been dying to make, champers on ice…and I’ve even stashed some luster dust to sprinkle over dessert. What films are you guys rooting for this year? (still can’t believe I haven’t seen Silver Linings Playbook…heard it’s SO good!) Oh, and let me know if there are any celebs you’re super excited to see walk the red carpet. I’ve been loving Jessica Chastain, Emma Stone & Jessica Alba’s awards show looks lately…love how they all strike that fresh, youthful balance of unfussy elegance.

I can purchase many brands at Cost Plus World Market. I would imagine that all of the large box wine stores have them too. Like Bev Mo?

I made that pasta dish after you mentioned it in a previous post and it really is so good. We are having it again this week and it is a cinch to make! Someone in the comments suggested sauteeing shallots along with the squash and adding toasted pine nuts at the end. Even though the recipe is a winner in it’s own right, I might just have to try that variation – maybe even with a cocktail or two :)

SO glad to hear that, because I actually ended up making a different pasta and haven’t tried this one yet!! It sounds so delish and I’m thrilled to hear that you loved it. Definitely trying it this weekend.

I have always wanted to host an Oscars party, but invariably end up not doing it because it is on Sunday night. I so wish they would change it to Saturday night, just to have some time to recup from all the champagne before heading back to work!

Agreed – Sunday night feels like a “cozy at home” night to me too!

I am so excited for the Oscars. I am a movie goer, you name it I’ve seen it. I can’t wait to watch the red carpet, that is for sure the main event. I will be tweeting start at 5pm, see you guys on the stream.

The Oscars night is one of my favourite nights on the year (I think I am a bigger film buff than fashion lover, or at least it’s a tie). My favourite movies of the year are Argo and Lincoln (I hope Daniel Day-Lewis wins the Oscar, because, frankly, he is sublime in this movie, and I’ve seen all his contenders’ performances too). Silver Linings Playbook is a good film. As for the red carpet, I loved Naomi Watts in Zac Posen at the Golden Globes and Jessica Chastain in Roland Mouret at the BAFTAs. I am yet to see Zero Dark Thirty.
