Monochromatic Monday :: Lavender Fields

Lavender-Fields-Inspiration

Ever since my first trip to Paris, when I laid eyes on the lavender overflowing the gardens and perfuming ever inch of the city, I’ve harbored a secret fantasy of growing it myself. Flash forward many years, and although my thumb is far from green, we decided to see how it would do on the back terrace this summer, tucked between the olive trees and rosemary. And… ta-da! Beautiful, abundant, intoxicating lavender. I’m like a proud mama, showing it to everyone who comes over, picking little sprigs to tuck into sorbet and lemonade, and rubbing it between my fingers just to take in the scent. I’m so obsessed that after taking photos of my garden, I just had to design an entire inspiration board around the party that I’d love to throw each year celebrating our little lavender harvest. I’d top a swath of sheer white linen with bunches of lavender tucked into mason jars, serve a gorgeous cheese platter with lavender honey, and send each guest home with a terra cotta pot bearing their own tiny harvest. Dreamy, don’t you think?

    Was just in Carmel this weekend and everywhere I look there was lavender. It made me long for a garden. Beautiful post!

    I love lavender scents! I read that it grows very tall and wide? Dark lavender going to be a popular color for fall 2012 fashion, as well. :)
