So far, I’d have to say this summer has been pretty dreamy. I hired Blair, the first member to join our editorial team at The Effortless Chic, back in April and it was one of the best things I’ve ever done! Meanwhile, my husband Aaron has been enjoying a much-needed hiatus from his crazy production schedule, so he and I have been sneaking away for mid-week beach breaks just because we can. But what’s getting me the most excited is that in 19 days, we’ll be sneaking away for a much more exotic adventure to China! It’s become a bit of a tradition for us to gather up all of the frequent flyer miles Aaron accumulates throughout the year and jet off to a new bucket list location each summer, and each trip has taught me a few valuable packing lessons. Always pack one lightweight jacket no matter how warm weather.com says it will be (Australia!), heels and cobblestone streets do not a good match make (Bruges!), and you can never have enough cotton tees and tanks in a humid climate (Thailand!). This easy, breezy summer look is my game plan for China…

These cotton Paige pants (similar to these) are my favorite and super easy to travel around in.  A couple of mismatched bangles and my gray leather cross-body bag that I bought on a trip to Italy are both musts, as are über comfortable sandals for walking like these from Matisse. My camera and Luxe city guides make sure that I make the most out of our adventure!

I’ve found a straw hat is essential for protecting from the sun… and to keep from wasting too much time on fixing my hair.  I like really simple jewelry that doesn’t take up too much space in the suitcase like this one from By Boe.   Also, sleeveless, breathable tops are a must for summer travel!  This one is super affordable from Old Navy.
