Call us eager beavers, but we just couldn’t help ourselves… this week our team got together to celebrate Cinco de Mayo a few days early with sangria, maracas, mini tostadas and yes, Jenn’s chihuahua Guaps as our official mascot. True to my Austin roots, I like to stay “fiesta-ready” at all times, and between the girls and I we were able to pull together this little shindig using candles, serving pieces and Mexican blankets from our own collections (along with a crazy amount of Mexican embroidered tops & dresses!) This party was a great reminder that sometimes the simplest get-togethers are the most fun… keep reading to see some of my fave moments from the day shot by Melanie Grizzel, and hope you get inspired to throw a little Cinco de Mayo soirée of your own!

As much as I love my margaritas (really, is anything better?) I decided to mix things up by making a big punch bowl full of fruity sangria. It was so delish, and definitely made things easy on the hostess – once I set it out, all the girls got to be their own bartenders. I’ll share the recipe with you guys next week.

Mexican dresses are the best. So colorful, and you really can’t beat the comfort factor.Cinco de Mayo Party | photos by Melanie Grizzel for Camille StylesInstead of doing a floral centerpiece, Chanel and I picked up some succulents from the nursery and planted them in a long vintage wooden box. It kept the vibe cool and casual, and the best part is that they’re now a permanent fixture on my patio table.

Watermelon skewers with crumbled cotija cheese and maldon salt. Yum. Chanel is going to share how she DIY’d the festive beaded skewers next week (so perfect for cocktail swizzle sticks, too!)

Such a fun day… many thanks to Mel for capturing it all so beautifully. Now I just need to start thinking about what I’m going to do on the real Cinco de Mayo… (most likely, head to the nearest Mexican restaurant. Extra queso, please.)
