Remember Claire’s Mason Jar Herb Garden DIY from a few months ago? We knew the project would be a hit , but we were blown away by the response it’s received… seems just about everyone is ready to dirty up their hands for some springtime gardening! One reader, Alison from paper{whites}, caught our eye when she sent us images of her own version of the hanging herb garden. It’s such a treat to see reader interpretations of our DIYs, and this one turned out so terrific that we’re actually considering doing the whole thing over, her way! Find the full instructions on Alison’s site, plus more shots of the final product after the jump.

DIY :: Which Came First?

egg hatching peep easter egg diy

These days, spring’s arrival is heralded by countless things… bluebonnets, more hours of sunlight, SXSW, the list is endless. But as a child there was really just one way to be sure that summer was on its way: the appearance of Peeps at every turn! They hold such a weighted place in my memory bank that I knew I wanted to incorporate them into a DIY this year, and disregarding the Easter episode of Unwrapped, I thought I’d get imaginative with the concept. Why not bring the sugar-coated marshmallow favorites to life by concealing them in dyed eggs, and letting kids ‘hatch‘ them out? I can’t imagine a better way to pay homage to this childhood classic than by passing the penchant on to younger generations, and this project is super simple. Keep reading for step-by-step instructions, and I’d love to know whether Peeps are a mainstay in your springtime memories as well! more +

Transformed :: Better Off Shed

With the taste of Spring in the air, I (Claiream finding virtually every excuse possible to escape to the great outdoors. Those closest to me have always known that I’m a total nature nerd, but by now you may have all picked up on my tendency to give outdoor elements a makeover and then bring them indoors. Since I’m a sucker for deer sheds (did you happen to spot a gilded one on my great wall?), I’ve been dying to think up the right project to incorporate them into my home. Absolutely cruelty-free, sheds add such a fabulous touch to any space, and just browsing through the inspirational images I’ve found has me eager to get started… but first I’d love to hear your creative opinions on these 3 versions: How would you like to see my deer sheds transformed? Pitch in your thoughts and ideas, and stay tuned for the reveal with instructions in two weeks! more +

How’s everyone’s Easter planning coming along? We’ve been so busy around the office that it feels like our favorite spring holiday has crept up on us without warning, but we’ve been taking good notes on the amazing crafts we’ve seen around the web this year. Created by Megan Robinson of Le Robins Nest, I’m absolutely loving the idea of displaying these amazing eggshell succulents planters in a carton as your Easter table centerpiece, and then sending each guest home with an egg favor of their own. We’ve got big plans to share some fun egg-inspired DIY’s this week, so be sure to stay tuned for that… but in the meantime we’d love to hear what projects you’ll be taking on in preparation for this Sunday.

DIY :: Seed Packet Favors

Spring is in the air, and judging by your comments earlier this week, we’re not the only ones getting our homes and gardens ready for the warmer weather. Remember that springtime garden party we showed you a few weeks ago? Well, we thought we’d give you another sneak peak into the shoot, this time by showing how we created sweet seed packet favors that also doubled as place cards, perfect for celebrating springs arrival. (For these, we were initially inspired by Chelsea’s tea party favors and made a few garden party-worthy tweaks!) These little guys couldn’t be easier to DIY, and will send guests home ready to see how their gardens grow. Keep reading for the instructions, and stay tuned for more fun details from the shoot!

Transformed :: Moroccan-Style Table

Camille_Style_Bohemian_Wedding_inspiration0023.jpgClaire here, with this week’s DIY transformation for you all! When Camille asked for my help in creating a low seated dining table for her bohemian-themed shoot for DIY Network, the wheels in my head started spinning. What types of materials would be right for a Moroccan-style table, perfect for guests to lounge around on floor cushions? How tall should it be for optimal lounging, and how should I construct it? I considered using an old door as the tabletop, but wasn’t sure about the carved indentations…and most of the vintage doors I found were fairly pricey. When I came across these old bed posts, I knew they’d make the perfect legs, topped by simple wooden planks that would allow me to customize the size to exactly where I wanted it. Care to see how the pieces came together? We’ve got the easy instructions just after the jump.

DIY :: Petit Sweets Favor Display

You didn’t really think we’d tease you with this morning’s tres chic baby shower photos, and not share any of the DIY details, did you? With such a large group, we wanted to keep the favors small and simple (but still full of French flair), so we set up a candy favor display right by the front door. Just before heading out, guests picked off a tiny glassine bag filled with pink candy and tied off with a tag reading, petit sweets. The project was really simple to put together, and the perfect way to top off out a beautiful afternoon, so we thought we’d show you how we did it, after the jump! more +

Do You Dare :: Funky Flooring

Michelle here, with a design challenge that’s reserved for only the boldest of decorators. If you’ve ever painted a room in your home, you’re familiar with the kind of thought and consideration that goes into choosing a wall color. That said, I tip my hat to any homemaker who’s daring enough to take the same colorful approach, and apply it to their floors. Though I’d be hesitant to experiment with the idea myself, there’s something so striking about wooden paneling in unexpected patterns and hues. Follow the jump to be floored by more mesmerizing spaces, and do tell: do you dare spruce up your home with graphic floor decor?  more +

Transformed :: Door Decor

Hi everyone! Claire here, with a project that I’m thrilled to say, has been one of my easiest yet. Two weeks ago I confessed to you all my need for a quick home pick-me-up to distract me from the other looming projects I’ve been putting off. I was so inspired by all the incredible designs I discovered, and after much sketching and deliberating, I decided to take pieces of each one I’d found to create my own original door design… and if this photo is any indication, it’s safe to say the whole household is pleased with the outcome! Interested in making your own? We’ve got the easy instructions just after the jump. more +
