DIY :: Floral Pin Card Holders

We thought we’d kick off the weekend with a project that is so simple, I can’t believe we hadn’t thought of it before. See that fabulous gold menu card holder on our all-white  buffet? If you hadn’t already guessed it, it’s actually made of a dolled up florist’s pin frog! Usually used to keep flowers perked upright in a vase, we realized that with a few minor tweaks, these spiky disks would make the perfect place card or menu card holders. Keep reading for the instructions, because this is one DIY you can’t afford not to do!

DIY :: Cup of Cheer Garland

holiday letter garland cup of cheer metallic silver hot cocoa bar christmas

When it comes to holiday entertaining, what better treat can you possibly offer your guests than a cup of cheer? At a recent holiday shoot, we set up a fabulous hot cocoa bar with a spread of seasonal toppings for everyone to try their hand at mixing the perfect brew. But, the best toppings of all were the decorative ones hanging on the blank wall just above the table… one garland of tinselly poms and another reading ‘cup of cheer‘. Super easy to make and packing quite a punch, we thought we’d show you how we did it! Keep reading for the instructions. more +

Powder Room Prep

Powder_Room_CamilleStyles2

‘Tis the season for holiday entertaining, so thought I’d take a moment to give a rundown on how I prep one of the most important areas of my house for guests: the powder room. It just takes a moment, but checking the condition of the guest bathroom before the doorbell rings goes a long way in making sure everyone feels super welcome. Empty the trash, wipe down counters, and make sure there’s extra of everything: hand towels, tissues, soap and TP. Keep reading for my absolute prepping-the-powder-room essentials… more +

The Pretty Table

BHLDN table setting rustic plates decor - camille styles events

Last week, I went to Houston to visit family and celebrate a friend’s birthday. My timing couldn’t have been more perfect, since my very first stop was the brand spankin’ new BHLDN store in Highland Village (the first of its kind!) As I perused – jaw dropped, touching everything – I couldn’t help texting friends the photos of my favorite details. I couldn’t possibly let the week go by without sharing BHLDN’s perfectly-styled  table decor & entertaining accessories. More of our favorite images after the jump. Which one’s your favorite? more +

Sponsor Spotlight

Entertainment pieces-the foundary-camille styles events

I am totally infatuated with the most recent events on The Foundary. From the beautifully worn Treasured Tables to the entertaining pieces by Totally Bamboo, to the the unique designs by Birdhouse, there was no disappointing during my last visit. I found myself in an online-shopper’s frenzy (which is the best kind, isn’t it?) as I perused one event after another. Be sure to pop over to The Foundary & register for all the retail goodness before time runs out!

Pretty Little Things

Anthropologie Decor for Entertaining-Camille Styles Events

I should know better.

Yesterday I had some time to kill between meetings, so I stopped by Anthropologie “just to browse.” Since I hadn’t been in the store yet this summer, I immediately found myself surrounded by way too much fabulousness and commenced to exploring every square inch. Next thing I knew, I was in the dressing room surrounded by heaps of feminine tops, sailor pants & fifties-style circle skirts (a must-have for fall!) I was able to just say no to the wardrobe temptation, but when I ended up in the housewares department and spotted these little lovelies…there was no going back. I’ll set the table with modern white plates, top with these tiny colorful bowls filled with fresh berries, & pour fizzy vinho verde into chic fleur-de-lys tumblers for a leisurely summer get-together.

A Warm Winter’s Night

Maple and Yogurt Panna Cotta with Poached Forelle Pears

The holidays are upon us, and I’ve been searching for entertaining recipes that are the perfect blend of simple, seasonal, & show stopping. I want dishes to feel extra-special for the occasion, but I have no desire to be chained to the stove all day. This Crown Roast of Pork seems to fit the bill perfectly: a stunning presentation and a recipe that let’s me pop it in the oven and walk away. And what could be cozier than this maple panna cotta topped with caramel poached pears? more +

Camille Does Thanksgiving

Lounge Area, Custom Event Group, SMP

I’m so looking forward to the holidays this year… it will be the first since A & I got married (last June) so we have an expanded family to celebrate the season!  Of course, we’ve had to face the newlywed dilemma of how to spend time with both of our families during the holidays, so for Thanksgiving we’ve invited everyone to spend the day in Austin at our {very cozy} house!  This post kicks off my hostess brainstorm session, from menu to decor to choosing wines, and we’re starting with the tabletop.  I’m leaning towards keeping things simple yet seasonal, since I want to leave plenty of room for the breads, gravies, & other edibles that will inevitably show up.  These are some ideas I want to incorporate, although I don’t yet know how the details will play out: more +

The table set for ten & adorned with hydrangeas.

Last week, A & I invited eight of our favorite people for a casual backyard dinner party to enjoy the final days of summer.  We got lucky with a not-too-hot (for Austin) evening, fended off mosquitos by creating a perimeter of citronellas, and set a simple table with all-white dishes and brilliant blue hydrangeas. more +
