DIY :: Floral Pin Card Holders

We thought we’d kick off the weekend with a project that is so simple, I can’t believe we hadn’t thought of it before. See that fabulous gold menu card holder on our all-white  buffet? If you hadn’t already guessed it, it’s actually made of a dolled up florist’s pin frog! Usually used to keep flowers perked upright in a vase, we realized that with a few minor tweaks, these spiky disks would make the perfect place card or menu card holders. Keep reading for the instructions, because this is one DIY you can’t afford not to do!

DIY :: Gilded Thank You Cards

diy thank you card gold glitter

As many of you know, we are huge paper freaks. Cards, notebooks, wrapping paper… you name it, we’re obsessed with it. With that, we were beginning to wonder why we hadn’t taken it upon ourselves to create some of our very own stationery. And since we’re loving everything gold, what better project than a set of super simple, but fabulously gilded thank you card’s? These designs were a cinch to make, and all come together to create a lovely suite. Keep reading for the instructions to all three! more +

Baggage Check :: Rio de Janiero

carnaval rio de janiero

rio de jeniero carnaval

Of all the destinations I (Kelly) have dreamed of visiting, Carnaval in Rio de Janiero is at the top of my list. With color, glamour and an unparalleled air of celebration, the lavish Brazilian festival is the definition of over-the-top. At the risk of stating the obvious, eccentric attire is always an important focal point of Carnaval (think ‘amped up Vegas showgirl’), so I can’t think of a more complementary collection than these Dolce and Gabbana one pieces. Short hems, radiant textiles and of course, perfect tailoring, these designs are just another element added to my Brazilian fantasy, and a perfect way to stand out in a twinkling sea of overstated costumes. Have any of you ever been to Rio or Carnaval? Do tell!

DIY :: Owl Be Home for Christmas

DIY Craft owl ornament carboard bird holiday

A few months ago, inspiration struck when I realized how much potential crafting material was being wasted with the unused cardboard boxes that always seem to be flowing through our office. With such a neat texture, I wondered, ‘What, oh what, can we create using cardboard?’ Shortly thereafter, I stumbled upon these beyond adorable ornaments at Anthro made out of, you guessed it… cardboard! So, I set out to create a cardboard owl ornament, and I must say, I’m completely smitten with the final product (just look at those beady little eyes and tiny twig feet!) Of course, we’ve got a downloadable template and step-by-step instructions for you to create your own little guy, all after the jump. more +

Kristen here, with this week’s roundup of the prettiest paper I can’t stop thinking about! It seems everyone I know is getting married this summer, and as I search for the perfect gifts, I keep coming across the most gorgeous wrapping ideas (which I find more fun than the gifts themselves!) While I usually reach for neutral colors, lately I’ve been incorporating more pattern, texture and bright color into my designs. I love to liven them up with a bit of shimmer here and glitz there, adding some extra sparkle to the big day. Follow the jump for some more pretty ideas, and I’d love to know… what are your favorite ways to wrap up a gift? more +

Somewhere Splendid

Heart-Shaped Menu Card

How did I not discover the gem of a blog Somewhere Splendid until today?! Brimming with gorgeous decor, inspired parties and stunning food images, it’sbasically a bundle of all the things I love, from the perspective of designer and editor Maddy (who also happens to co-edit Nonpareil, one of my fave online mags.) I’m especially loving this shimmery table in bold colors, designed by Carter and Cook, and am already devising a way to adapt these sequin-y swizzle sticks for a client’s event next month…
