DIY :: Floral Pin Card Holders

We thought we’d kick off the weekend with a project that is so simple, I can’t believe we hadn’t thought of it before. See that fabulous gold menu card holder on our all-white  buffet? If you hadn’t already guessed it, it’s actually made of a dolled up florist’s pin frog! Usually used to keep flowers perked upright in a vase, we realized that with a few minor tweaks, these spiky disks would make the perfect place card or menu card holders. Keep reading for the instructions, because this is one DIY you can’t afford not to do!

Get Happy

Yellow-White-Spring-Table-Place-Cards-2

Is there any color palette that bursts with sunshine more than lemon yellow and grassy green? I spotted this perfectly-designed table (designed & shot by fellow Austinites Three Apples Events and She-n-He Photography) and couldn’t tear my eyes away. One element that makes this set-up so effective is the all-white background: linens, china and vases simply fade away to allow the brilliant lemon yellow of the flowers to pop. And I’m especially enamored with the clever use of pin-cushion protea as place card holders. Genius! Looks like I’m not the only one craving spring’s arrival around here…

A Modern-Organic Feast

Modern Thanksgiving Table-Persimmon Place Card-Camille Styles
Next up in our Thanksgiving table inspiration series: A decidedly modern take infused with seasonal organic touches. We built an earthy canvas by using a white linen & burlap runner, then punched up the color with vivid green napkins & bold orange persimmons at each place setting. A scattering of mini pumpkins incorporates autumn’s bounty, but feels a bit more modern in an all-white color palette. Vases full of tall breadsticks create a centerpiece in a snap and allow hungry guests to start snacking the moment they sit down! Have a little fun this Thanksgiving by putting your own spin on tradition…(follow the jump for sources)
