DIY :: Floral Pin Card Holders

We thought we’d kick off the weekend with a project that is so simple, I can’t believe we hadn’t thought of it before. See that fabulous gold menu card holder on our all-white  buffet? If you hadn’t already guessed it, it’s actually made of a dolled up florist’s pin frog! Usually used to keep flowers perked upright in a vase, we realized that with a few minor tweaks, these spiky disks would make the perfect place card or menu card holders. Keep reading for the instructions, because this is one DIY you can’t afford not to do!

The Pretty Table

BHLDN table setting rustic plates decor - camille styles events

Last week, I went to Houston to visit family and celebrate a friend’s birthday. My timing couldn’t have been more perfect, since my very first stop was the brand spankin’ new BHLDN store in Highland Village (the first of its kind!) As I perused – jaw dropped, touching everything – I couldn’t help texting friends the photos of my favorite details. I couldn’t possibly let the week go by without sharing BHLDN’s perfectly-styled  table decor & entertaining accessories. More of our favorite images after the jump. Which one’s your favorite? more +

Coming up with a name for these little blooming beauties was quite possibly the most difficult part of the whole project. After stumbling upon these wood pendant lanterns on Kim Vallee, I was inspired to use the same shape for a totally different purpose. With just a few strips of paper, strategic hot gluing and some string, we were able to create these charming drawstring favor holders, perfect for stashing macarons & brightening up a place setting. And guess what… they are super easy to make! Follow the jump for the step-by-step instructions & enjoy!

Falling Leaves + Gilded Pomegranates

Traditional Thanksgiving Table Setting-2-Camille Styles

Can you all believe that Thanksgiving is tomorrow?! It’s been a blast creating ideas for the holiday table this month, and today we’ve got one more stunner to share (plus a delightful table from a creative friend later this afternoon!) For this setting, we were inspired by the shapes and hues of falling leaves…

Traditional Thanksgiving Table Setting-1-Camille Styles

To create a classically elegant look, we used traditional gold-rimmed china topped off with these gorgeous gold leaf dessert plates. Floral designer Amy Bodle from Merveille created the luscious centerpiece overflowing with fall flowers, berries & leaves gathered from a neighborhood walk (don’t you love the idea of foraging for flowers?) And the gilded artichokes & pomegranates peeking out take this arrangement over the top… more +

Amber Waves

Fall Table Setting-Camille Styles EventsAfter a quick jaunt to West Elm to stock up on a few fall entertaining goodies yesterday, I couldn’t stop thinking about their rustic-chic store displays incorporating little tree stumps on the tables (yes I asked, and no, the stumps are not for sale.) When I got home, I found an envelope from my mom in the mailbox, stuffed with loads of inspirational magazine tears (like mother, like daughter, perhaps!) How serendipitous is this bit of table loveliness from Southern Living that was tucked inside? Elizabeth Demos designed a rustic & elegant setting using cut logs to created different levels for the table centerpiece. She topped them with moss, flowers, and candles glowing inside amber lanterns.
