Monochromatic Monday :: Great Gatsby

GreatGatsby-InspirationBoard-CamilleStyles Eighty-seven years ago today, The Great Gatsby hit shelves…little did they know that it was destined to become the Great American Novel and inspire literature lovers for generations to come! In honor of the occasion, I thought I’d design a garden party to celebrate spring, with details dripping in Gatsby glamour. Don’t think for a second that prohibition put a damper on the fun; bootleggers brought the liquor and the era birthed some of the most innovative cocktails in history. Serve ‘em straight up in mason jars, and pair with southern classics like tea sandwiches, shrimp and grits and deviled eggs. Don your best 1920′s fashion, break out the croquet and string up loads of lights to keep the party going way past sunset.

    I adore this! The Great Gatsby is one of my favorite reads, and this is a party I would be at in a second! So many great and springy elements featured here…that top left pic playing croquet? Yes please!! Thanks for this, brightened my gloomy Monday.

    What a beautiful post! A garden party sounds ideal… however AZ weather doesn’t always like to cooperate! I guess I will have to a garden party while on a getaway!

    Do you know I have NEVER read this book? And I was an English major for goodness sake. Shameful. It’s on my summer reading list :)

    Needless to say, love your creation…especially the cucumber tea sandwiches!

    Thanks for the sweet comments ladies.
    @Amy: you’ve GOT to read it this summer! Still one of my faves from English class. :)
    @Jenna: I totally gravitated towards that croquet photo as well…it inspired the entire look of this board!

    One of my favorites novels of all time! I love everything about that era – I went to a Prohibition-themed party a few months ago and it was so fabulous!

    Beautiful inspiration board :)
