I love a clever hostess gift, and this “Bar in a Box” from the latest issue of Martha Stewart Living definitely qualifies. It includes all the essentials for the perfect cocktail tied up with one gorgeous bow: a shaker, coasters, straws, umbrellas, pretty napkins, a recipe book and can of mixed nuts. All served up on a bright lacquered tray that any host would love to receive! What are some of the best hostess gifts you’ve given (or received?) A big bunch of peonies or fresh tomatoes picked straight from the garden are two of my faves. Oh, and the other day, my friend Heather brought over a bottle of Hendrick’s Gin with a gorgeous carafe of tonic and baby cucumbers, perfect for mixing up my husband’s favorite summer drink. Love! We were visiting friends up north and planning on going to Napa together so I got them a box set of cookbooks from chef Thomas Keller. They loved the gesture since we were visiting one of his restaurants on our trip. Bonus was they kept calling me later and telling me how beautiful the books were…
