Last night I was all ready to go to my fave French restaurant with friends…only to discover that (horrors!) they’re closed on Tuesdays. Since I didn’t get to satisfy my steak frites cravings, I’m feeling particularly enamored with this Provençal Picnic spotted on Design Sponge. The idea behind this imaginary tête-à-tête was a romantic anniversary picnic inspired by the French countryside.
Everything looks completely effortless yet so elegant: a blue floral tablecloth is a pretty picnic blanket; wine crates stand in for portable tables; and lavender macaroons + lemon custard tarts are perfectly french treats. I love the milkmaid pitcher overflowing with gorgeous hydrangeas and vintage milk bottles with rosemary, sage & lavender.
A wine barrel picked up from a garden shop makes an ideal vessel for libations like Lillet, Rosé, & Lavender Lemonade. The picnic basket overflowed with duck pate, saucisson, fresh fruit, pickled vegetables, brie and butter sandwiches, & cheeses such as a Mimolette, Brillat Savarin, and Roquefort spread on French baguettes. Oui oui!

Tres Francais! I absolutely love this, and I agree that everything looks completely effortless yet elegant. Love the use of the wine barrel in this design!
I loved this shoot, so beautiful
I love this French inspired picnic! It looks like dream. I really like the half barrel and the wine crate shots. I’m not sure if there is such a thing as a picnic planner, but if there was you could easily compete for world’s best!
