What do you get when you combine a historic music venue & barbecue joint with Maroon 5, and add a twist of vintage carnival? You may remember earlier this month when we mentioned working on a client’s huge birthday blowout, tossing the term ’rock concert’ into the mix here & there. Well after a year of planning, the 40th birthday event came and went in what turned out to be the best party I’ve ever been to (and you know we event planners don’t use that descriptor lightly!) Since words can’t possibly describe the detail that went into this 600-guest affair, we’ve brought in the fabulous photography of Cory Ryan to help tell the story. Follow the jump for our favorite images, because this is one you don’t want to miss!
A massive tent from Marquee Tents made for the perfect canopy above the food & games area, embellished with colorful twinkling globe lights & draped gauzy fabric.
We couldn’t have asked for a better team than our friends over at Townsley Designs, who custom created the stunning signage & furniture. When the party started, guests flocked to Midway for fortune telling, temporary tattoos, and cotton candy.
Flowers by The Byrd Collective were spot-on, with bright & punchy wildflowers arranged in beautiful vintage crates, boxes, and bottles.
What better way to follow up Stubb’s BBQ than with cake and ice cream? Local favorites Hey Cupcake (in their airstream trailer!) & Amy’s Ice Cream came out to join the fun.
Is it any wonder why the ladies of the party were swarming towards the stage? Maroon 5 put on one heck of a show!
Invitations by make&matter; musical opener by DJ Johnny Bravvo; aftershow by LC Rocks; magic by Bobby Cordell; tarot card reading by Three Ring Service, tattoo artistry by Curvy Canvas; photo booth by Say Cheese
A-MA-ZING!! Great job ladies. I think what I love most about the event is that—despite its obviously generous budget—it has a low-key feel and puts the emphasis on simply having a jolly good time.
Oh, Adam Levine … Sigh.
Wow! Looks like an unforgettable event! I love the little details that went into it. Very Austin!

Thanks ladies – y’all are too sweet! @Maya, this is exactly what I loved about this party and my client. Although it was obviously an over-the-top celebration, the emphasis was really about having an unforgettable night with friends. And I guarantee no one at the party will EVER forget it!
What an amazing birthday bash! I love the laid back feel! Where is the cotton candy machine from?? That is too cool! Great Job ladies!!
