Taking care of business

So excited to be at Alt Design Summit in Salt Lake City this week, seeing lots of my favorite bloggers from around the nation and speaking about Building a Personal Brand. It’s a subject that totally fascinates me, since the plethora of communication vehicles available to us now (Twitter, Facebook, personal blogs, business blogs, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Instagram, and the list goes on) all speak to the world in rapid fire about who we are and what we want to say. Speaking of personal brands, I decided it was time to give my business cards a little refresh just in time for the conference. Keep reading for the inspiration…

I worked with Trina at Make & Matter (who also designed this blog) to create a look that’s clean, sophisticated and timeless…with a metallic pop for character. After lots of comps, we came up with a look that mimics the logo on my site, “wrapping” all the way to the other side of the card. And since I’m currently obsessed with gold, I couldn’t resist getting my name done in gold foil. As for the gilded edges…Chanel and I tackled that detail ourselves. What do you think? Hope you love, ’cause we’re going to show you how to do it next week!

I’m out the door to a day full of panels and blogging fun…hope you’re all having a wonderful Thursday!

your business cards are classy-hot! I’ve been interested in the colored sides on business cards but didn’t realize a diy version could turn out so well! do you have any pointers on (painting?) the edges?
