Transformed :: A Picture Frame

Happy Tuesday!  Claire here, with today’s DIY transformation. Our latest project is a jewelry organizer that lets you showcase your bling even when you’re not wearing it! It also just so happens to be easy, inexpensive and completely customizable. So…let’s get started!
  • picture frames (found at any craft store, or if you’re a thrifter like myself, you can score some great second-hand finds)
  • staple gun or hot glue gun
  • roll of metal mesh window screen
  • scissors
  • pliers
  • ruler
  • conventional picture hooks like these or “s” hooks
  • self-leveling sawtooth hangers
  • spray paint
  • liquid leaf (for gold-leaf detailing)
  • acrylic paint
  • paint brushes
  1. Spray paint frames with your base color of choice (I did half white gloss & half gold). When dry, use acrylic paint or leaf liquid to detail the edges, create accent lines, etc.
  2. Measure & cut screen mesh slightly larger than the frame opening. Using the staple gun, attach screen to back side of frame and trim off any extra.
  3. Hammer in the self-leveling sawtooth hanger to top center of the frame.
  4. Bend back top loop of picture hooks. Use ruler to measure where you want necklace hooks to hang, and use scissors to cut tiny openings in the screen. Slip hooks into the small openings.
  5. Place your favorite necklaces, earrings, and bracelets on the hooks, hang your jewelry holder on the wall and voilà! Your jewelry is now art!

Agreed, I can’t wait to make this. Such a simple concept, but would look so chic propped on a nightstand. Great job Claire!

So sweet and simple! I made these for my two younger sister in laws last year for Christmas and they loved them. Helping set up a Stella & Dot party tomorrow evening and will have to reuse this charming idea! Thanks for all the inspiration, love your blog! Especially love that yall are in Austin. We are in Houston, but lots of our family is in Lakeway. :)

Cute idea! I need a place to put all of my earrings! Although my earrings aren’t nearly as beautiful as the ones pictured!

Oh I just love this! I am currently rocking the clear tri-fold kind that makes me feel like a super hot 7-year old when I pick out my morning earrings.

    I’m 26.

Crafternoon, here we come! Thanks for the inspiration!

I love this! I have seen this in the past but I have that they are always cluttered. Loving the idea of multiple frames.

Love how the jewelry seems to be floating mid-air … Too bad I can’t find that type of hooks (or even small s-hooks) anywhere around here, maybe I’ll be lucky in the big hardware store when I get there next week …

Where can I buy the mesh screen? I love this one in particular and cannot find any anywhere!

I did this today! Not quite the same as yours (I didn’t see this DYI until after I did it) but it’s still awesome!
