Wedding Fever :: Our Treat

Happy Sunday everyone!
 Hope y’all are enjoying this cool weather…especially in Texas where we’ve just survived a blistering summer, we thrive on these days. There’s nothing I love more to complement the crisp air than a festive October wedding. As this month comes to an close and fall becomes more apparent, I can’t stop thinking about the most autumnal wedding favors: caramel apples! Served salted, with pecans or chocolate, using toffee, or just plain caramel, there’s a version to suit every guest… even sending them home with a kit to make their own! Follow the jump to see some great interpretations of the trend, and I’d love to get your vote: is this fall-inspired favor a wedding do or don’t?

    I think the bottom picture looks like a great idea! I think the DIY box is probably only desirable to a small group of people, but those ready-to-eat ones – who could deny that! Looks delicious. I’ve actually never eaten a candy apple in my life.

    Years ago I encouraged my cousin to have caramel apples as a wedding favor. Her wedding was in late October in New York and they were a big hit! The apples she ordered were gourmet and very large..enough for 4 people to share. Um Um I can still savor how wonderful hey were! great choice!

    Thanks for including my caramel apples in this cool post Sophee! I have found in my many years of catering that the mini caramel apples, made with lady apples, are easy to munch at events without a problem. But sending them home as favors has worked as well. We actually fill the center of each little apple with chocolate ganache! so when you bite in, there’s a surprise sweetness that melds perfectly with the salted caramel. All the best, Peter Callahan
