5 Ways to Make Every Day Feel Like the Weekend

July 19th, 2017

I’ve always tried not to be one of those people who spends their entire week counting down to the weekend, but especially during the summer, sometimes you just can’t beat that happy sense of freedom that Saturday and Sunday bring. Lately I’ve been trying to find more ways to infuse every day of my life with more fun, and it’s got me wondering if there are simple ways that I could bring that sense of freedom into say, an average Wednesday. To test my theory, I came up with five easy activities that I typically reserve for the weekend, and I’ll be trying them out this week to see how it changes my workday vibe. Hope you’ll join me, and I’d love to hear your ideas in the comments.

I love this article! What great ideas. Thanks for the inspiration. I plan to start scheduling some mid week DIY project time and maybe eating some meals al fresco. 🙂

I try to make Wednesdays a mini weekend in some way whether it’s springing for dessert, sleeping in or skipping the gym guilt-free. It really breaks up the week when Friday seems far away and motivates me to carve out time for myself since so often the weekends get loaded with social items. Think I may try your pool tip!

  4. I do #5 every week! Once we had all graduated college a few years ago, I wanted to find a way to keep those friendships going. I host a casual dinner at my house every Wednesday and anyone can drop in if they have time. I love that it’s something to look forward to in the middle of the week, and I’ve gotten better over time at making it stress-free!

I’m all about making every day feel like the weekend. I should start doing these things more throughout the week, especially trying fun cocktail recipes. 😉

How fitting, I literally posted about the exact same thing today on Instagram – finding ways to break up the boring work week like going to a movie (which we did on Monday night), planning workout dates with friends, or trying new restaurants (hoping to make it down to the beach for this one next week). And if you really don’t have the time for those things at least once a week, I also shared five easy ways to squeeze happy into the daily grind. 😉 Here if you’d like to take a look…

I’ve been swimming laps after work on my way home at Deep Eddy pool and it makes me so happy. Even though we have to work all year long as adults it’s nice to find some moments that capture the freedom that summer always had as a kid. Great ideas!

Totally my kind of philosophy <3 Everyday is a blessing make the best out of it ??

  11. I loved this post! My blog name came from the whole idea that we work all week and live for the weekends. We have a pool right here that we never get in during the week, which is ridiculous lol. Your list was so simple that it makes it very feasible to enjoy a little bit of extra weekend vibe into the week. Excellent article! Thanks!

What a gorgeous picnic/movie setup you have going in photo #3! I love the idea of scheduling in the phone/computer free ‘recess.’ Mine is when I get out on the ice and figure skate– total getaway from stress!

This made me smile. I am a workaholic who has worked for herself since the 70s. Everyday is a workday but also a holiday because I love what I do.

  14. I do #1 all the time in Summer! I love making the realization that weeknights are your time too, not just the weekends. So often we forget that. In Winter I usually swap the swimming for a dessert bar somewhere…

  15. Great ideas here! I need to do more swimming. I loved it as a teenager!

I LOVE this so much! such great advice!
